Hi Bill. I'm not sure of the meaning of this tanka (tatanka-love it). I remember in the movie "Dances With Wolves" the native called the buffalo "tatanka." Your piece is well illustrated with good alliteration of the "w". Marilyn

I don't know tanka form that well nor do I fully understand this poem. But I really like the feel of this poem. Great use of alliteration with all the "w," "t" and "u" words and I like the sense of something as fragile as a butterfly/batterfly could ominously portend the end the of our "wasted world."

Another writer interested in alliteration! "Weightless winged wisp" is great. "Wasted world" is all too true, Strong words, but unfortunately that's where we are. It sounds like some twist of fate will occur to bring further disaster. Things are out of control. judi

I'm guessing 'tatanka' is the stuttered form of 'tanka'... ? And Battlefly... that's an interesting choice for the wasp there... totally going with the wind on this one as I don't really see a hidden meaning... just some fun alliteration in a dark sort of aura... Thanx for sharing and making my poor brain think a bit more after hours of grading...lol! ;) Yvette

a tatanka

Hello, Bill Schott,

....Battlefly....is a beautiful written in a tatanka form. I like the way it flows. The presentation is good and effective. I think it's about evil but I am not sure. It's a bit abstract for me.

Is "battlefly" a military term? Sounds like it could be a destructive device that could cause death. Good use of alliteration and coloring in your contrast between font and background. Bill

Tongue twisters seem to be your thing today. Might as well go and see, she who sells sea shells down by the sea shore. She sells them for a buck or more. Can't go, don't worry, don't hurry, she'll bring them to your door.

I am assuming this is about how we process our waste and spoil our planet Bill, I have never heard of a tatanka before, but maybe you are just playing with us, we need to be careful with our waste products and look after the environment, much enjoyed, love Dolly x
