I think your writing is amazing and inspirational. Spreading the word Jesus is important. It is well written. I am a Christian, and I believe in the power Jesus.

"as we walk in this corrupt world we cannot keep our minds clean anymore than Peter could keep his feet clean while walking in the dirty streets of Jerusalem. " So true.

Deniz: thank you for sharing the word of love to the world.
I like how you tell us to fellowship in the word with Jesus.
We can worship, learn and drink new wine with God.
I am in the word and share his good news. flylikeaneagle-nancy

You really do a solid job proving to the reader the value of understanding scriptures were not written in a vacuum without consideration of culture, time and place. I like how you explain the difference with the approach to believer and unbeliever and how John's epistles can be revealing.

What a wonderful teaching. I really like your explanation of the mind being washing by God's word. I did not pick up on any mistakes to make recommendations on. Great job. Shirley

Thank you for sharing this...sermon. I find it interesting. There is a positive message here? ...or an anti-Catholic message? I picked up on some of both. I find your religious scholarship makes for an interesting read, perhaps part of a book of sermons? It does make the curious person want to explore the subject further, which I believe is the over-arching intent.

Interesting take on what I posted. Thanks for reading and commenting.
My over all intent is to help people see and understand the grace of God more fully. I promise you I had not thought of posting something anti-Catholic, but since you brought it up, let me address it.

The Roman Catholic Church claims to be the one true church of Jesus Christ and the only one allowed to interpret scripture. On that basis alone, they offend countless Protestant churches. Do you every read their writings and suspect they might be anti-Protestant?
Probably not as they have been very adept in recent years at pinning the label of Catholic bashing on any kind of opposition to their teachings.
    Food for thought.

Superb, pastor Deniz. I John 1:9 is used like a bar of soap for the already clean and forgiven Christian. It subjects the believer to performance based salvation and self righteousness. Oh no, what if I forgot to repent of that sin that just through my mind?

The law of the spirit is a whole new thing, completely. It's not obeying the ten commandments! If you are forgiven and cleansed by Christ, he makes you righteousness by His gift of righteousness. It's a gift imparted at salvation!
Great word, today. Just posted my Easter poem early.
Sending you my best today as always,
Sally xo

This is a very serious and meaningful commentary on the New Testament, and particularly the question of confessing sin in the life of a believer. You make some good and truthful points. I don't think it's encouraging believers to sin, just to state that it does happen, from time to time; and if it does, we need to talk that over with Our Heavenly Father, and trust in our Advocate, Jesus Christ, who intercedes before the Father always. We do need to be continually washed in the Word, as you have stated so well.

Thank you for a thoughtful reply, I appreciate it. Another aspect of this subject (How does the believer stay in fellowship with Jesus) is the Apostle Paul's showing us in God's sight. we are crucified with Jesus (our old sin nature) while we are risen with Christ as a new person, made in the image of Jesus. we are more than forgiven, we are new people, perfect in God's sight forever. Like new born healthy babies, our principal need is spiritual food...the milk of the Word, the bread of Heaven and the meat of the Word as we mature in Christ.

Romans 7 shows the spiritual battle in every believer as the old nature, though "dead" (or cut off from God) nevertheless is very much alive in our experience.
The way to overcome this constant onslaught of inner rebellion is to
    obey this command:
"Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Romans 6:11 New King James Version (NKJV)

God bless, and thank you again for reading and commenting so kindly, YBIC, Dennis

Of course scripture always talks in the ideal walk of the Christian, as Jesus would, that is always the standard of Christianity, but it's foolish to think we actually do walk in that perfection, so one should have to know that salvation is secure. It's in the intent to sin, rather than the weakness of the flesh, (as in Romans 7) that we see more clearly, I can remember being so devastated by "slipping" as a young Christian that the temptation to just "give up" was overwhelming. (Some bad preaching) But in the process learnt the truth. I always ask people who are discouraged, "do you love God?" They always say an emphatic "yes" I tell them, "you didn't take God by surprise, He knows your weakness, and He made provision" bless you brother Denis, Roy

This is a very well written post about staying clean for Jesus. You used very good descriptive words and explained very nicely. I enjoyed reading and reviewing this. Please check this one thing:
So it follows Peter is addressing unsaved
as he is addressing unsaved?

If that is not right just disregard. May God bless you my friend. Teri
