This is a thinking poem! It brings to mind how its hard it is sometimes to decide which way is up when navigating life! Sometimes the things that we think will make us feel free, actually obligate us or weigh us down, or make us lose ourselves. I like poems like this that have universal truths...we are always searching for the best way. Thanks for sharing!

There's much truth in your well-constructed cinquain. It is easier to escape from a situation than it is to escape from ourselves. True freedom occurs when we are able to release ourselves from our own internal imprisonment.

Escaping is an individual decision; one is free to do this as one wills; but freedom is given, one has to earn it and it is not at one's personal act unless one entitled to it, to test freedom one may apply the trick of escaping; well said, well done; thank you for this deserves for a 6-star but I do not have any; Pray to God save mankind, you and me from pandemic Coronavirus, 10 members may load @$21 MD gift to my account, save my ATB posts making my Premier Shield Upgrade for this and after this life at $210 MD

This is an excellent entry into the contest, worded well. A thinking poem. My take on it is this: Freedom's interpretation doesn't matter to anyone but for the comfort of the person involved. Marilyn

An excellent thought in this. It should really catch the attention of the judges, and best of luck with your cinquain. Sometimes I watch DVDs of an old show starring an old private detective. (So old I won't say which one.) Many times, his killer starts small by killing someone unintentionally. Then in order to escape the consequences, he has to kill again to cover his tracks. His actions usually don't lead to freedom but imprisonment. It is the individual's choices that will determine whether he is free. Your syllable count is right on. judi

A very well-written Cinquain poem. To escape from something doesn't always gives us the freedom that we are seeking. Freedom is to escape from your own prison within.

Snap, I just write two poems on this very subject, it is a word glibly used, one man's freedom can be another man's enslavement, I think the the only freedom is to think, but even that is conditioned. Our country, like yours, says, it's not the Australian way, nobody's told me what the Australian way is. Heh heh. Well done Bill, a wonderful cinquain, I think you're right. Good post, good luck, blessings, Roy

Hi Bill, that is one crazy image... can make you really dizzy if you look at it long enough. I liked this poem very much, the escape to the inside or to get out sometimes you have to go through the center, idea. Great image for the purpose. :)
