Hi Liz, I am suffering from the same thing that you do with my kitties. One of them is a yapper and wakes me everyday at 4 am crying like a baby. You have to play with him, and put it back to sleep and he starts again in 5 min. This game goes on until I start to work at 6.30 am and then he goes to sleep. Does Xanax work?

In this case, my dogs are metaphorical for obsessive thoughts that "hound" me. My literal dog is much quieter. Cheers. LIZ

We all cope with our hounds in our own unique way. Distraction, or occupation, is both safe and effective. Writing pops to mind. Idle hands (and feet), after all, make Jack an crazy cur, as they say. Or, do they?

Love the extended nautical metaphor.

Best of luck.

Peace, Lee

Thanks for the compliment--I am metaphorically challenged, so this was a stretch! Cheers. LIZ

Wow! that sounds like one of my panic attacks when I took care of Frank. "rererepeat"-- that's how I stutter when my mind won't shut up. And yes, I reach for my anxiety pills.

Glad you can relate, Shari. I don't have a valid excuse such as you did. My mind is merely self-absorbed, much as I am loath to admit it. Cheers. LIZ

I have a suggestion for a different activity : dig a tunnel to my place and leave your black dogs at home to fend for themselves - after all, they'll have company. Bring the Xanax with you (I didn't know what it was so i had to google it) and we can bitch together.

You might find the first way of silencing them to be reap better rewards but the Xanax approach might be a more peaceful way for all concerned. You're so funny. Maybe you should get a real pet. Then you'll never feel alone.

I have a granddog--but he ignores me because (per daughter's orders) I refuse to capitulate to his begging. Cheers. LIZ
