I enjoyed the read and found your carefully metering gave a great flow to your well written poem. I'm in the UK but the essence of what you are putting across could just as easily apply to over here. Great work.

I certainly agree with the sentiment but don't believe that enough voters study the ballot well. In addition sometimes new members of Congress are as corrupt. I enjoyed the flow and rhyme. No edits.

I generally agree with all you state Lance. It will be fascinating to observe how this worldwide crisis and
health threat effect the traditional norms of participation
in the political process. I am especially concerned about
states instituting new guidelines and diminishing other
standard processes for voting. Wisconsin went from 180
polling places in Milwaukee down to 5 in their primary elections which, to me, is very concerning. The fact that
their Supreme Court overturned the Governor's decision to postpone the election also is concerning. Great review and I thank you Lance. Most honored. tom

You have poetically presented my sentiments on the state of our crooked,
ineffective political system. You have presented a profound message in solidly rhymed quatrains of well chose words. I pray the voting public will listen and respond.
Exceptional throughout!

I wish I had your gift at completing teh meter of your poems... well done.

Yes, we should all exercise our right to vote. It is one the most important of rights to allow our nation it's freedom.

I enjoyed your poem.

You are right. If one complains and hasn't voted, then their words fall on deaf ears. Your words flow smoothly with great rhymes and imagery and a great and true message. Too many sit and do nothing but talk about change rather than work towards it. Thanks for sharing. Respectfully, Jan

This poem, A Crooked Stack, points out how they can fool some of the people all the time, but have to live with the rest of the people who know the truth and didn't drink the Kool-aid.

The biggest lesson that history teaches us is that not only does power corrupt, it corrupts absolutely and completely. So many men in the past took office with the best intentions, but along the way, they lost their way, because, in order to stay in power, one has to sometimes do the unsavory things that power demands, and temptation is oh so sweet. Saul, David, Solomon, Just a few notable rulers who fell from grace for deeds that were maybe just a shade unsavory. In modern times, the name Bill Clinton comes immediately to mind. Even our bright and shiny Prince Jack Kennedy has been portrayed as a horny goat who laid a fair number of women not named Jackie. Im Just Saying.
