Hello Deniz22,
Romans 8 is a wonderful book of the Bible to read about life in the Spirit. Because we belong to Jesus, there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. In Romans 7, the scripture says, " we are not bound by the law of Moses." To your question, "What is "wretched? My 2 cents, wretched means the old man, miserable, maybe distressed, unhappy or the separation from God. As you said, sin leads us away from our Savior. We all have our battles as we try to become that new creature in Christ. When we are obedient to God's Word, we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held (wretched); that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter (the law). We all died to the power of the law, but as a new creature, we live in a new way because of Christ. We are not controlled by our old nature once we become a new creature in Christ. Our wretched ways are less as we move closer to Christ. It takes work to become that new creature. Yes, it's every saint's battle. It's the Spirit and God's Word that changes us! This is a lovely spiritual story for this beautiful holiday (Resurrection Day). Thanks for your explanation of the word "wretched." Happy writing:-) Great job!!!

Yes, Romans 7 and 8 deserve much more study and meditation.
The ?wretchedness? of the strain between the old and new nature?s is solvated by the infusion of the power of the Spirit in the present and His promise the future holds complete freedom from this inner conflict every believer experiences.
Thank you for reading and commenting. God bless.
