Oh a very nice one. I don't know much about odes, but I DO like the tree crying out for help. We have to give them as much help as we can. Desolate image reinforces your theme. Best of luck in the contest. Marilyn

Hi Jeffrey, It's a wonderful, 5-7-5 ode poem you've written here. I loved it. It came across a little bit sad as if the tree was all alone in the world. And I suppose it was. Good luck. All best. Ulla:)))

I think this is a creative little poem, you have made every syllable count and it all has a very strong message. I'm not sure I agree with your last line and the 'just' a tree. I think your message is that trees are more than just trees?

I have heard that trees are the lungs of the planet. If that is so, anyone caught and convicted of randomly cutting down trees fo no good reason, should be charged with attempted murder. Why? If trees are the lungs of the planet, anyone destroying trees is depriving the Earth and its inhabitants of air we need for our existence..

I am just a tree. But each tree, each person, has meaning, has a job to do, has to represent the best they can - what God gives them to do. I like the verse that says "I will uphold you with my righteous right hand" - perhaps this applies to the tree as well. We live in forested areas and they are grand.

I like your poem Jeffrey. Poor trees. The picture enhances your poem! They cut the trees down for lumber and then just leave the mess behind. They should be planting new trees as they go along.
Stay safe@
Patty

really beautiful
I think a tear is welling inside for the trees and the all the things we destroy
a fresh wise and precise personification of an endangered species
if only
we all remembered all the time that it is not "just a tree" but our life sustaning oxygen
have a smiley day

I like this 5-7-5 ode to a tree.

You really would have to have a wooden heart not to feel something for the predicament of the trees in this humancentric world.

Well done.

Best of luck
John

Never 'Just a tree' but living beauty, life giving to many creatures including man.

I do like the desolate photo that you've used for your ode from the trees pov. Nicely done in this 5 7 5 form, cheers.

We would not have toilet paper without tree cutting, nor Kleenex and paper towels. I have given up paper towels and Kleenex. I use cloths that are worn. My way to use less wood. Thank you for sharing.
