Hi Theresa, I don't expect you will see this any time soon, with everything going on. (I know how catching up can be... I've got 68 replies and growing as my messages start to dwindle... finally...) I'm so sorry to hear about your sister and your family's inability to be with her. I am going to tell you about a recent experience I had with my mother, she passed in April just before all this hit, which I hope will make you feel better. Feel free to share it with your family.
The last night that she was conscious, I had spent with her in the ICU. She had actually gotten her vision back, could see me clearly, and my sister too (she came in for a bit when she heard what was happening)... my mom hadn't seen anything but shadows and shapes for about 18 months. We usually had to tell her which of us it was... we all sound similar. :)
Anyway, as the two of us were talking that night, she suddenly sat forward, insomuch as she could, and looked across the room calling, "Daddy! Daddy! You look Wonderful!" Her eyes were shining and bright, it was something to see... then came the rest of them... her sisters, mother, and brother... then after a while, on the other side of the room, a bunch of people she was saying hello to that I didn't know. They must have been old friends. It was an amazing night. A night that I won't ever forget. I wanted to let you know, so that you can take some comfort in the fact that even if nobody on this side can be by her side when that time comes, Anne won't be alone. Her family from the other side will be there with her, waiting to welcome her with open arms. She will not be by herself. I know it's going to be so hard for you and your mother especially... but if you can take the slightest comfort in what I witnessed that night, then perhaps that is why I was there to see it. I know that you will 'be' with her as much as you can, as well as you can, but be assured... she won't be alone.

Oh Susan that was absolutely beautiful. We had the same experience when my father-in-law died at 57 of cancer. He was talking to all his relatives and family members in the room and he could not understand why we could not see them. The doctor said with cancer you never know it could be six months but he gives her two or three weeks as it is now in her pancreas. I?m trying to be strong for my mother?s sake, but I?m falling apart inside. I have lots of wonderful girlfriends but nobody has ever topped my sisters. Thank you for your kind words and your compassion. They really mean a lot to me.
