Thank you for sharing your fond memories in this story poem about the
"good old days". The lady in the picture is very sympathetic and your slow approach to courting quite appealing. I imagine it paid off! Best wishes in the contest- Joan

This good ole days poem, The Way We Were, lookls back fondly on the courtship strategy to a long-term relationship, as opposed to a more modern 'sampling' scenario.

That was the way it was in my day. Slow but sure was "getting to know" the best and the worst, before the tumbling into a useless love.
Thank you for your gentle review.

Excellent poem here, my dear friend. Those days and style of courting are long gone, I am afraid. but looking back there was always a certain mystique to taking it slow, joe. LOL congrats on winning for this Ralf. : ) Bob

Aaah! Those were the days when we respected each other and were anxious to find the hidden persona so that we could decide, yeah or nay. I only had one instance where I was at risk and that was when I was working for an older man. Thankfully, I escaped!!!
Thanks Bob, for this lovely review. I love your words.

For sure. That's how my courtship went. According to the movies, women jump into a man's bed on the first date! A lot of nice alliteration in this. A perfect last line. I'm betting a woman wrote this.

That is so nice. I suppose it was like that for some, in some places. It sounds so sweet. For the girl. I'm sure it was agony for the poor guy, but still nice.
This is good look back on dating in the good old days.

Well done.

Thank you for your review. You have it right. The difference was the deep respect males had for women. It was expected.

I am a member of that generation and truly enjoyed your sonnet+. Indeed it was a simpler time where courtships followed unwritten rules. You describe the "stages" very well. Rod

Thank you Rod. The males in those days were so respectful. I'm not saying all, but the expectation was there and adhered to.

A very well-written poem about the good old days that we found now was the best days of our lives. Recently, an old school friend connected with me after forty years and we talked for hours of our youth and failed attempt of romance at the time.

Oh, I remember way back then. That first time he held your hand and your tummy did a flip flop! The awkward moments while he tried to think of a way to plant that first kiss on your lips! Yep those were the good old days! Good luck with the contest!
