This was awesome and deserves at least six stars. An amazing perspective with terrific imagery and emotion yet not judgemental nor partisan. Most enjoyable and I shall definitely look for more of your work
All the Best!

Phil, this galaxy of stars has definitely brightened my evening. It can?t compete with the gloom of the hurricane clouds looming overhead. Thank you so much and if you do decide to review some of my past works, I hope not to disappoint. All the best and take care. Loren

Interesting take, writing from the mountains point of view. When I was in college the professor told us that a fire hit the battlefield and burned of the grass. It was discovered that no one had ever policed up the battlefield and relics were still there. Congratulations on winning the contest.

Using the place of The Little Big Horn as a character was startling and effective. How offten the strife of men wreck landscapes or condemn a place to tragic infamy. The only thing is to be careful when using specific words like 'tundra' and 'pampas'. It blends with the imagery, but each of these words have a specific botanical community that would not be at this site.

Absolutely wonderfully written. Every word means something. You portray the 'march' precisely. The story is told in total reverence and respect, just as it should be. I know of the battle but you talk about the Native Americans walking to the rhythm of the drums. Does this part have anything to do with The Trail of Tears? This is beautifully written and deserves 7 stars if I had them!

Ciao mystery poet ..you won my vote ..you have 7 now!

I read your entry several days ago and I already knew my vote would go to you from that moment on.

To have the story told from the mouth of Little Big Horn itself was a brilliant idea...this way there was no right or wrong side .. fears were common feelings on both sides ..and there was no winner and loser cause war is a tragedy full stop.

I was going to pick out some of my favourite lines but that would have meant 2/3 of the entry .. biggrin

Your writing is very engaging , you captured my interest from the very start and it did not waver until the end .

I liked this short story about the massacre at Little Big Horn. And through the point of view from the hills there. Many men died on both sides and will be remembered through history, unless people nowadays destroy it. I like this and think everyone who does not know what they talk about when they tear down history should read this. This does what the contest requires. I wish you luck.

This was beautifully re-imagined, a swath of emotion raised up. The land speaks, holds a memory and response. I think many spiritual people can find both the indictment and the forgiveness in these words. This perspective is precious. This battle was different. No one wins, if even one side outbattles the other. Loss of life, Loss of peace, derailed lives and generations of recriminations are in the balance. Thank you for this touching and poignant revisit. Nicely done!
