I like this poem about time passing and may ourselves and others slowing down and stopping like the clock. The clock is a source of memory and a omen of life and death.
Congrats on being the recognized writer this month.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Joan

My clock is high up on the wall and super large so I can see it. Time does fly, especially for someone like me who has declining eyesight. I never waste a day. Well-penned, dear Jay.

Sending you my best today as always,
Sally :)

I loved this sing song rhyme about not being ready to give up just quite yet.
As I endure the ravages of time I wonder about my own mortality and how long I'll last. I have SOOOOOOO much to do yet. I've even considered a bucket list to ensure I get it all done.
Your melancholy poem had humorous undertones and found a renewed optimism at the end. I like that.
I also laughed hard at the closer.
Indeed, it sounds like you've found a way to stop time LOL
Well done.
I must try that.
Sixer for your efforts!
Cheers P

This is a very clever and creative poem that is thoroughly entertaining. I think that an elegant picture of a grandfather clock would improve the presentation, but the poem is wonderful anyways. Have a wonderful night.

This is such a delightful, moving poem. It conveys a powerful message about time. I love how you tell the clock you aren't ready and you just won't wind it!

You have produced another little rhyming gem: the speaking grandfather clock. Maybe you're lucky it didn't say "Son, you need a kick up the backside" or even something worse!

The old grandfather clock connects you back through time in this piece, like an old family friend. A familiar face looking over your shoulder. I loved the touch of humor, especially at the end, when you forget to wind the clock because of the cup of coffee. estory

Excellent use of personification. A clock is the perfect instrument to portray this hand-me-down through generations. (I have a Birdseye Maple dresser, but that wouldn't do)
I've many sips within my cup-a great line.
Humorous effort to stop the march of time.

I like this very much, Jay. Those Grandfather clocks are neat with the swinging pendulum, if they haven't been "upgraded".

I like that you tell him when it's time, not the other way around.

A most enjoyable read today and many thanks for sharing.

Gloria
