What an interesting legend. It seems this little bird is extremely clever and not afraid to show it. It also sounds like his courtship ritual is very noisy since it keeps you up at night.
Thanks for t aching me about this bird.

Hello W.J. Thanks for reading, glad you enjoyed. He's feisty but tame towards humans. Only as big as the palm of your hand. I love all birds. Cheers, Kay.

I am a bird nerd so your tale of Willy is marvelous. You capture his life in a poem with smooth rhyming of lines and verses. I like how Willy is a small bird, the tiny birds are often full of spunk. You could also continue Willy's adventures in another poem. I like the legend of how he rode under an eagle's wing.

Hello my friend, Thanks for reading, glad you enjoyed. He is tiny enough to sit on the palm of your hand. Will attack birds twice his size if he doesn't want them in his garden. Cheeky and feisty! Love, Kay.

that's wonderful...lets hope it stays that way...I see where other parts of Australia are going up...

ours is showing we are going up as well...
but they say they have tested somewhere over 3 million more people...they have more test stripes now...it's in God's hands...

things are doing well over here...will be on the road next week again...trying to pack the car...if it would stop raining...LOL...every time I pop the trunk...it starts raining...when I wanted rain a month ago...it was nowhere...now I want it to stop for just a few days...and it's raining everyday...LOL...are you and Toby Dog getting out???...

    ok!!! I have to get moving...you have a wonderful day...later you...love xxoo

We are fine. Very cold in the mornings, 5c this am. We are in drought again. The borders were opened to Victoria, people didn't take notice of social distancing and no dancing at clubs, result= huge outbreak of new cases. I don't think some people realise how deadly this virus is. I see Trump is finally wearing a mask. You take care in your travels, stay away from people and wear your mask. Love from US2 xx

I have a big fondness for birds and I wish I could see even one of these beautiful varieties in person. A lot of birds are aggressive...even the little hummingbird is extremely territorial. I very much enjoyed your descriptions of the behavior of Willy Wagtail. I'll google him and see if there is a video. Thanks greatly for sharing, Kay! xo

I hope you can see a video because their call sounds just like, "sweet pretty creature." Thank you for reading my friend. Love, Kay.

Your well-written, descriptive poem is an appealing blend of narrative and lyrical elements. You have made effective use of specific details to take the reader from the initial flirtation all the way to parenthood! Note: In line 7,
you need "too" instead of "to."

A splendid poem about one of my favourite birds. Fortunately, I'm sufficiently deaf not to be bothered by the dawn chorus! Yes, I've watched them attack crows and magpies and see them off. We have a pair that attack us with equal fervour if we come too close to their nest!
