A very well-written poem about having faith in God to provide everything we need at the right time. We don't need to doubt or fear anything in the world that He doesn't know about.

I really like your last stanza that speaks of having faith in God to be the faithful provider that we all need. Interesting writing that ties in the drought from Australia. Thanks for sharing your creativity in this way. Bill

Great poem in the Faith Poetry Contest. Rain in a parched country is a wonderful message from Heaven that God will not let his people die, when they have faith in Him and send their prayers up, the rains will be sent down for the thirst of the dusty soil to lessen

Hello, my friend long time no see. I love your poem a mix between ancestral traditions and the omni God that takes care of drought. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Dramatic and faithful too, dear Kay! Well done. I like the imagery, tone and tenor. I especially applaud your unique voicing style with a rhythmic groove that stops and starts like a lightening storm. Thunderous in some lines and soft in others. Favorite stanza:

Pregnant clouds spat lightning sheets
Women cannot feed with shrivelled teats
Elders lift hands to skies; ask for rain
We thirst, we hunger, no more pain

Fine rhymes, especially the slant rhymes, like without and drought and doom and maroon.

Striking presentation (literally)...
Warmly,
rd

Ooh, thank you my possum. A writer asked me how I go about writing poems...I write from my heart not my head. I don't worry about meters, iambic whatever that is. BUT, when I do write, they tell me I have a unique style (dat means you sneak a look) our higher self kicks in and off we go visualizing. What I 'see' you read. I could send my autograph, but my archives are full! Hee, Hee. Hope you are well, you have never given me such a great review as this one. Darling girl, it means the world to me. Big hugs across the waves Sister. Love, Kay xx and Toby dog X. slurp.

Say hi to Toby doggie, dear Sister-friend Kay. Big hugs to you too! I am well. Hope all is going well for you too. I write from the heart too, even when using meter!!

    Lots of Love,

ER, de only meter we got is the gas meter! Hee, Hee. It is freezing here today. Toby gave up sitting in the wind, gone to bed with his bed-heater on! Love, Kay xx

God so dramatically shows His power in the storms that He allows in the desert areas of the world. I used to love seeing a desert storm when I was living in New Mexico. The lightning was terrifying at times.

At least you don't have a drought and I expect these rain storms are welcomed, the enrichment from rain feeds all sorts of creatures and quenches the earth, quells the pain, simple pleasures here, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Good golly it's Miss Dolly, Darling girl, we are in severe drought! These flash-in-a-pan storms do nothing to ease the conditions. Lightning starts fires. When the rains really come, Mother Earth opens her arms and cries. Love, Kay XX

I'm one of those strange people who loves storms...not the destruction they sometimes cause, but the inherent energy and visual excitement of the process of their existence. I really enjoyed your poem with rhyming couplets in quatrain verses, Kay. :-) Super posting!

Hello Possum! I feel the same, really enjoy the power of nature. Reminds me of an orchestra; firstly tuning up, intro and main then the crescendo. Love, Kay xx

You have a sensitive soul and obviously appreciate the amazing beauty and energetic flow of the wondrous life all around us. I love that's it being shared here in such poetic ways. xoxo

What a beautiful poem about dust and rain, drought and storm, desperation and faith! There is sadness, yet not without hope; Bahaime, God or the Great Spirit, will provide! You have also chosen an awesome illustration.
May I suggest a period at the end? It would add an air of certainty, if you agree, and if you want that.
Your poem is powerful!

Hello Mary Kay, Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for the advice. Hope all is well in NYC. Blessings Mrs Pizza! :-)

reply by Mary Kay Bonfante on 21-Jul-2020
You're welcome, my friend Kay. Yes, we do love our pizza, here in NYC. Tge Covid-19 situation has vastly improved here, but there's still no indoor dining out, and widespread discontent among many, as well as crime rates that have gone way up with the hard times and many frustrations. Jorge has been back and forth to the hospital for numerous conditions, and let me tell you, they DON'T know how to make NYC pizza in the hospital! The chef must be from Kansas or maybe Kazakhstan, lol. Anyway his health has improved, and he is scheduled for some tests on Thursday. We hope and pray that the results will not show any serious problems.
May God bless you too, Ms. Oz!
    Love, Mary Kay xoxo
