The Psalms are my favorite book of the Bible. I feel close to God when I read them. I like your discussion of Jesus washing people's feet, it is a cleansing ritual that shows our sins can be washed away. Your essay teaches the reader.

It's a bit early in the morning. But I know swallowing scripture in the past has prepared my soul for writing, because it needs to be part of us. But your right, regularly reading is important, but I've tried reading large tracts, but I'd rather absorb by repetitive chewing of the passage I'm on, it lasts, like the retentionp, of my arithmetical rote learning, beautifully written Bro Denis, b

Interesting take on the water and blood. What you said about the song, "What can wash away my sin, nothing but the blood..." I would think it is related to the verse, I think in John 1:9 But I think your on to something about how the water and blood represent for us a cleansing, and there is indeed much scripture about the cleansing power of God's Word. Good work.

    Thanks Forest. There is teaching through out the Word on this very subject. And though I've hear many sermons on the Humility didplayed by Jesus in washing feet, it's a rare one which looks into Christ's Words of explanation: "Except I wash you, you have NO PART in Me." Christ makes it clear in the passage the Apostles are already cleansed by the blood (with the exception of Judas who never came to faith in Christ). This washing with water from the laver in front of the tent of meeting was done by the Priests right after they had offerred a burnt sacrifice on the altar. Only after washing with water did they then go into the tent and worship God.
