Hello JLR!
Beautiful imagery in your visually pleasing Tanka. If I may, the last line contains 8 syllables; thus your tanka = 5/7/5/7/8 = 32 syllables. Tankas are to contain 31 or fewer syllables. Easy fix: omit "the" in last line.

I hope I have helped!

Diane thanks! I did drop the extra word. The crazy thing is I use the website. howmanysylables.com and it did not contraindicate my syllable count was off.... hum

As a nature lover who adores mountain scenery, your poem appeals to me very much. There is also a hint of the spiritual with "unknown vistas" awaiting, once the hindrances are unveiled.

Great picture to compliment your well written tanka. Vivid description in the first two lines that are grammatically connected. Good satori/pivot line.

Nicely done.

Blessings

Nice thought on this. To me though I think this would be better if it began, majestic mountains unveiled by the drifting clouds. Because isn't that what unveils them? Just my observation.

This is a truly beautiful poem with an exquisite picture accompanying it. The poem itself is very descriptive and with the picture an elegant presentation is created. A truly exceptional write.

"Majestic Mountains", is an extremely well-written and delightfully descriptive piece. With extremely well-chosen words, this talented poet
has told it as it is. I look forward to seeing your next post. To me, this is a six, but unfortunately I've run out of them.

A magnificent descriptive imagery in this one. The visuals are so good I feel I see this "majestic mountains" you describe. This should do very well in the Tanka contest and I wish you a lot of luck in the booths.

I enjoyed your picture also.

Your words paint a lovely picture and flow easily off the tongue. Though the last line didn't, at first, appear to meet the qualifications for the form (5-7-5-7-7), upon rereading the author's notes, I see that the syllable count is suggested though not required, so I guess 8 instead of 7 is ok. Thank you for sharing your poem with us.

JLR: I love looking at the mountains and hiking up the trails in Colorado. Yes, sometimes we see the clouds covering the mountains and sometimes we are in them. The view is breath taking. flylikeaneagle

Your poem neatly portrays the magic of being in and around mountains.
On some days they are completely hidden and suddenly the next day where there were clouds we now see mountains. It's very thrilling when they suddenly appear.

NB: Your description of the form is not legible because of the garbage this site sometimes displays.
