I am so far behind in reviewing, Ralf, but am trying to do better in keeping more current. This is a very meaningful posting...partly reveals why I was in social work for so many years. I have experienced a lot. For a first try, you've posted a very sensitive work that is saying so much on different levels. It is an excellent poem and I am sorry I do not have any sixes. xo

Empathy -- such a lovely trait to possess yet a strain on the logical decision-making process sometimes... A lovely Peppered Pickle employment, Ralf! ;) Thanx for sharing! ;) Yvette

Okay, I'll bite...

Did you mean to write "wympathy" in line three or is that sympathy you were gong for???

I've been enamored of this form but have not had the good fortune to put one together quite well enough to post, yet.

Your theme is universal and SO sorely needed in this world today--and the image is strikingly beautiful.

No law against "modifications"---as long as you point them out so the reader knows you included them intentionally!

Nice!

Karenina

Well I'm lost again, is this a new kind of poem?? Does it have a name?? Well I know for sure it is beautiful and I get it. Sounds like Mother Theresa.

The name is at the top. A peppered pickle introduced by Dolly's Poems. Thank you for reading and commenting. Yes Mother Teresa's selfless attendance is invoked.

Wow Raffaelina you tried a peppered pickle. You missed the first word here, which is a one syllable word about the subject of the poem. Maybe the word: Thoughts might fit for this one, love Dolly x

Compelling definition of empathy vividly illustrated in fine rhyme per the challenging form invented by Dolly the Diabolical! (I stick with abba and abab.) Cheers. LIZ

Hey Ralf excellent theme because in my view what we are right smack dab in the middle of now is a complete lack of being able to put ourselves into another person's shoes so to speak. Sometimes feelings of moral superiority interfere with the ability to empathize with another's plight.

And excellent poem and a laudable effort with the peppered pickle.

Always a pleasure to read your work. :))

Gloria

Hi Ralf, lovely wording in your poem and considering it's your first try you must be pleased, felt the same way about the Tramps I spoke to in London, not walking in their shoes but just listening to their stories. Cheers Colin x

It makes sense. There are so many bad stories that no one cares about. It's hard for so many people.
Thanks for relating to this poem. Glad to hear you are wearing some strangers shoes.

Your poem is great, Ralf. Great job on the style of the peppered pickle. Your rhymes are all in the correct place. Your image choice is perfect, too. Your words flow with great imagery and emotion. You give readers much to think about.
Thanks for sharing.
