Excellent verse friend, Jay. Comparing one's life to an open book makes it sound welcoming, forthright and honest. The battles you've waged either won or lost were done honourably, and that dear friend is a job well done.
It's always a treat to read another of your finely rhymed and metred poems, so I look forward to where your imagination takes you and us next. :)
The analogy of a life being like an opened book is an appropriate one. New chapters are always being written, or new poems as in your example. I like the direct tone and the sincerity of being a human with good and bad decisions, happy and sad memories, that go to make up a life that has been "well done".
Exceptionally written poem, my friend. I think everyone wants to be well thought of when we leave this life. Of course, that is up to the individual.
Some work at it and some don't. Very well written, my friend.
Well done indeed, Jay. I always enjoy your outlook on life through your poetry. The messages come through so clearly and none of your advice or stories of life and love have ever bored me. Good job once again, my friend. : ) Bob
I just love the metaphor you used in the first stanza: "
My life is like an opened book,
in things I wrote, come take a look;
At words I said and deeds I've done,
at battles lost and battles won." Some might call it overrated, but in my opinion is the best comparative because it includes so many strange chapters, and you can even follow them chronologically.
