Very beautiful and very true. Those night thoughts are very hard, you know you should get up and write them down but OOHH that bed feels so good. I used to have a small recorder, that I kept in my car. That was for those inspirations on the road, but I lost it. Need another one to tape to my body.

I loved the way you described a poetry writing process, and congratulations on your contest win. A very creative poem with perfect rhymes, flow, meter and cadence. I also loved the name you gave it.

I often lie in bed at night
As words collect with lack of light
My mind's awash with inspiration
The words come swiftly with elation.

Many of us can relate to that.

When your heart speaks, you write is a beautiful thought in itself Raff.

I can identify with each stanza. I keep a pen and paper by my bed because it seems that nighttime is the time when my heart wants to get chatty.

Well done and congratulations on the win.

Blessings
Janet

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
I like this poem. It is obviously written by someone who writes a lot of poetry. The points you make are totally in line with my own thinking, with one exception: If I don't write down immediately whatever has come to me in the night hours, I don't remember it in the morning. I often grab my iPad and type in at least a few lines to help me when I'm more awake to remember what I was thinking. I guess I don't have as good a memory as you do. Your poem is so well-written and clear and easily understood, with great meter and rhymes, and I'm pretty sure most writers would relate to your thoughts perfectly. Good luck in this contest. I'm sure you'll do well. MM

I love this review. You are so into what your writing about. The memory thing is iffy. I have trained myself from when I was a child to memorize for I believe that practice makes perfect. If I don't write it immediately, I repeat 10 times to make sure I'll remember. When I wake up, it's the first thing on my mind.
Thanks for sharing your view. I appreciate your words.

You've written an excellent poem for the contest
with excellent, exact rhymes and a very good theme that many will relate to.
Inspiration, that sometimes elusive muse, is the difficult to describe, but you've done well.
A small suggestion. Your lines are mostly eight syllable tetrameter except in the third stanza.

I may decide to rise and write
Or memorize and say goodnight
Then the times when memory (7)
Pushes forth a reverie. (7)

You could make each line eight syllables, such as:

I may decide to rise and write
Or memorize and say goodnight
But there are times when memory
Just pushes forth a reverie

The two nine syllable lines are fine with what's called an extra feminine syllable.

Nicely done.
Good luck in the contest.
Robert

Yes I know what you mean. It lacks the stress at the end of the line. I'll edit. Thanks for your attention.

I enjoyed this entry for the Writing Poetry contest, particularly because of the smoothness of the rhymes. The poem was well-illustrated, since this smoothness of rhyme reflects well the smoothness of the beach when the tide is going out.
