A very encouragig piece. I coulod feel the strength and power as I read through. This piece shows the reader the hard steps it takes to work your way back and through the spells that depression brings upon you. It give the reader, who suffers from depression, ammo to fight back.

I think it's a great poem of perseverance in the face of this malady. you lay it out in honest, no uncertain terms. /We feel those headwinds here in your listing of the debilitating force of depression. But you seem to walk through it, like walking through a wall of rock. On the other side, there is this part of you that comes through unscathed. estory

This is a well written acrostic using alliteration well to decribe the chemicals, emotions and ways of fighting depression. The last lines
show hope to all those who suffer
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

The author's words are strong, clear, explicit and creative. Thank you for
the author's notes and the Suicide Prevention Hotline. It is so needed with
this virus and so much more. I especially liked the last line of this poem!
Hope you are having a great day!

Thank you for this beautiful picture of such an ugly dis-ease. You captured the inner-workings of this pain-in-the-neck illness very beautifully. Many people have a hard time believing that saints can be affected by depression. I say, as long as we are in this tabernacle of clay, impurities are bound to contaminate it, but as long as my soul is healthy and safe in His arms, I will be alright.

I have been dealing with this critter for a long time, but by the grace of God it has been like fuel for my soul. It has driven me into the arms of a loving Father quicker than any other of life's nuisances. I think that if it had not been for depression, some of my greatest testimonies could never be shared with someone who might be in the death-grip of depression.

I love the way that you brought out the chemical nuances of the dis-ease. The body is amazing. The inner workings of it are too intricate for us humans to wrap our chemically-dependent brains around. When God made man, He definitely hid the master formula which has all the chemical configurations. He only allows man a minute amount of information and intelligence to even attempt to understand the inner workings of the brain and other organs that make up the body. He always leaves room for us to seek Him.

Even now, I am in its company but, thank God, not its grip. This poem made me think about it and as soon as I began to read, the Spirit of the writing engaged me. I could not figure out why my energy has been so low lately. Within one year, my mom, stepmom, and a host of friends have passed away. I have not been able to cry or even weep. What I have noticed is that I have disengaged from friends and family. I just don't feel like talking.

After reading this poem, I can now move another step forward and I am inspired to keep it moving. Thank you so much for sharing a real and insightful poem about depression. The struggle is real but, by the grace of Almighty God, it is beatable. I choose to "press i on" because I am not ready to retire from God's work!

Great job!

    Anita,
This is the most heartfelt and eloquent review. To know that it touched you or encouraged you...who cares about the contest!!! I am so sorry you deal with this. Like you said though, it got you closer to the Savior and gave you a beautiful testimony to others. You know how others struggle with it now. I didn't know that at first. I didn't know how devastating Depression was until I got it myself, and then I was like... I've got to tell somebody I've got to put it out there so other people know they're not alone.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your message! Depression has driven into the Lord's arms too! So I am thankful for this trial! Hugs and prayers to you, sis in Christ!

Girl, God has us spread out across the globe. It is so amazing to be able to let others know that depression is real but we serve a God who is fully acquainted with our plight. He is ready, willing, and able to see us through by using one another's story. God bless you as well, my sister from the same Mister!!!

Yes ma'am! I don't serve a God who is limited in any way! He will see us through! What a mighty God we serve!

Thank you for this lovely poetic essay on depression. Some say, depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain. There are many medications to treat the condition; including many supplements (I prefer the latter), including St. John's Wart, Valerian root and more. Excellent artistic presentation and artwork; great creative imagery and visuals. I appreciate the research in your author notes.

This should make a prime contender in this contest, good luck in the booths!

Thank you so much for this review and your thoughts on supplements. That is something I will look into. I'm not a fan of drugs unless absolutely necessary. Contest win or not, I really wanted to get this out there for people to see. I used to believe people could just...get themselves out of depression. Now I know it can be a dangerous condition. Thanks again!
