Hate those events.... but I tell myself that they are for those 'still here' as your teacher/secmom/warrior is already home - her traveling is done. :) A beautifully heart-felt free verse, my lady -- thanx for sharing! ;) Yvette

Thanks, Yvette. I cannot stay sad, for she is glad to be home with her Saviour:) Thank you for reading, my friend!

Dadd Dillard is a lucky man to have a daughter he can speak to, Tina. Sometimes the family wants to be there, but feelings get in the way. I did not want to attend my mom's funeral, but being the oldest I had to. I have seen too many of my loved one pass to another life. It hurts. :(

Daddy Dillard jokes that he adopted me. Hes no relationship actually. I just tended to his wife a lot and visited her and him in the hospital. Older people need to feel wanted.

Loss...it does hurt! We had 6 in the last 18 months pass away. It has made me treasure people in my life every ordinary day God gives me. Hes given me so much peace:)
I'm sorry you've seen so much loss. Just love on the people in your life...it eases the pain somehow.
Let's hope we are done with loss for awhile:)
    Have a great day tomorrow.

Tina, what a lovely poem you've penned!
It's so sad when you lose a mentor and confidant; I lost mine when my mom died 2 years ago.
I like that you've accepted her illness and death as not being part of God's plan.
I'm saying this because so many people have told me, "Heaven is wonderful, and no one wants to come back to earth from there." I really I believe this, because love is so powerful, our deceased would return if where they are now, is not the most fantastic place ever. Good luck in the contest.
Best wishes,
Cindy

Thank you Cindy for this message.Im sorry you lost your friend and confidant mom. My real mom died when I was 18, but Momma Dillard kind of looked out for me. I've learned not to question Gods plan. I'm not as smart as He is lol! I agree. I think it must the most fantastic place ever!
This isnt for a contest. I hope I didnt mark it that way...
    Hugs to you!

Thank you for sharing your honest feelings about this very sad loss. But your second mom is with Jesus and probably closer than we know. Most of all, Jesus is close to each of us. May you feel His warm and comforting hugs now. What a blessing that you were there for Daddy Dillard.

Thank you much! It was a celebration service. She taught Sunday School for over 60 years! I was so blessed to know that example of a servant of God.I am so happy that she is happy where she is. I sppreciate this note that feels like a hug:)

I can see the anguish contained in this poem. It does help to get things out in a poem. Journeys come in all varieties; you did some necessary travelling to be a comfort to Daddy Dillard and to attend the funeral, while your second Mom travelled to the arms of Jesus and her Heavenly home. Feeling upset and angry is a natural response, but you know that God's plan is done through love.

You are right. I do know His plan is done through love. I just need to see the end result...shes with Jesus! Thank you for this note. My friends here on Fanstory are the best! I just was dreading going today, because I miss her, but she deserves to be somewhere nice than here, for all her servant-like work.
Hugs to you. Thanks a bunch for this note.

This is very poignant, as are the author's notes. The poem is very well constructed, and I especially like the repetition of
but I don't want to.
The only thing I feel negative about is that it really needs an illustration.

I wrote this in the car on the way to the funeral and I didnt have a picture of her to use as my illustration. I will try to do it this week. Thank you for this review and tip, Katherine!

It's a blessing you got there to be with him when he needed you. That must have been God's plan when he nudged you. Thank you for sharing. Stay safe and stay healthy.

What a beautiful poem! You expressed so well the feelings we experience when losing a loved one, yet knowing they went to be with God. You want to be angry at someone, at something, but there is no appropriate target for the anger.
I loved the way you tied in traveling at the end to traveling to be with God. I wish I still had six stars available for your poem!

Aw, thank you Susan for this message. You are such a sweet friend on here! I can be mad, you're right, but not at Him. He knows what Hes doing and He must have wanted her home with Him.
I appreciate you reading my poem, and giving your thoughts!
