Hi Oliver, a great finale to part one and I think I will have to read over twice as it's late here now, just catching up but knew I had this somewhere. Kind regards Colin

Oliver,

This is crazy amazing. I loved it! At first, I had no idea where you were going - I thought, no, this is the main character, he's not gonna die -- he'll return to his wife and life - like always. But you turned the story.

And the ending - due to the addition and metaphor of the whale - a much more valuable and well-lived and appreciated life.

Some notes - that really don't mean anything:
1.) he paid Pablo to get him three large bottles of single malt Scotch every Friday night
--> OMS! I have to think his wife would have noticed THAT! ha
--> oh, yeah. I see she does. ha

This was striking and I think it's even more so since I didn't read the first portion - now I can say objectively that this piece stands alone and should be entered into an off-site contest for flash fiction.

Thanks and good luck! (BTW, if you want tips on the places to send it - just holler!)

This is a fitting end to a life that preferred sea over land dwelling. Jimmy finally got his wish at the very end of his life. This is a great story!

I like and have enjoyed the read of this fascinating and complex Part 2 of the fiction, simple taletelling and balanced plot development, good beginning and literal ending; well said, well done; thanks for sharing this. ALCREATOR

Wow, I hope this isn't the last of Jimmy! It's hard to understand how a man can be driven so hard by his love of the sea! And it shouldn't surprise Jimmy that Eva considers Jimmy married to the sea! For Jimmy, the sea truly is his love, his life, and his lady. Evan and Pablo seem to be characters out of place in Jimmy's life. They are there as reminders of what he can't truly have: a normal family life ashore, instead of the nomadic life sailing to distant lands.
I hope Jimmy's sinking beneath the waves isn't the last of him--perhaps the memory of Eva and Pablo will jar Jimmy back to the surface!
Looking forward to reading part 3!

Thanks for the great review. Unfortunately it is the end of Jimmy, he had a heart condition that killed him. A bit cruel I kid but that?s life I guess. Thanks so much again for the reviews!
