Well done. Not getting notified again. I missed out on Phoney money on the last chapter it was a good read though. You still need to let me know ok. Continuing on for one more chapter, I think.

Very well written recollection of days gone by in this chapter, Beth.

There's a lot of memory-driven events that will capture the attention of your children and their children for years to come. For example:

After Connie began sleeping through most of the night, we moved her crib into the room with Carol and Christi. The crib didn't work for her very long, because she acted as though she was afraid of sleeping in it. When she had enough words in her vocabulary to communicate, she let us know that when she was in the crib she had dreams of being in a rowboat with skeletons. The older kids had probably frightened her with Halloween decorations."

One suggestion, if I may, Beth. I believe Itold you about using the word "would" on anoyher chapter. It's best to refrain from overusing the word in this manner:

"When Dolly would ask Connie how much she loved her. Connie would stretch out her arms and say, "de' whol wurld." I was a little jealous. Dolly was always buying her little toys and other thiings. (also misspelled things) btw.

Good chapter from beginning to end, Beth. :) Bob

Thank you Bob, I do appreciate your review and suggestions I did remove the word "would" It seems to work alright without it. I tend to write like I talk and I'm sure that is what I "would" say. See I just put it in there again without thinking. LOL

So glad you like the idea, dear friend. In text it sounds so much better, don't
    you think? Bob

What a wonderful recap of those early times. I found only one potential correction - eight tract tapes should be track.
I'm sure your children will cherish these postings.
Thanks for sharing.

Oh how difficult that must have been! So many changes from places to sleep and vehicles and dealing with a teenager. I remember bell bottom pants! I also remember Pres. Nixon resigning - I think I was in high school. What a busy time. Thanks for putting that all into historical perspective.

Thank you so much for the review. Most of this stuff I write about seems like it just happened a couple of ;years ago. When I realize how many years have actually passed, it is hard to believe. When writing, it is almost like time travel because I feel I'm there again. However my daughter claims that I live in the moment so that doesn't make sense.

Memory is a time machine. You can live in the moment but still take occasional time trips! 😊💖

Hi Beth, I so enjoy, reading your memories and you tell them so very well. It all come alive in my mind's eye. Your children will be so pleased when they read this,I'm sure.
So, you encountered a few problems from the children and then the van. Yes, I can imagine the change of he times could be difficult. I was 22 in 1974 so to me it was the way it was.
All best, Ulla:)))

I like your chapter in your book remembering yesterday about the needs of a growing family there were a few places that drew my attention made me smile ex. of this one is wen Don was continuing to treat Connie as a play thing. And Connie on the door knob by the elastic in the waist of her pants.

Thank you for reviewing this Gert. I didn't know he was doing that at the time. When I was pregnant, he was so hoping I would have a boy. He said we had enough girls already. He and Christi are twins and he told the doctor when he found I'd had a girl, to go back and look and see if there wasn't a boy in there too.

Dear Beth, in this post you mention some of the things I remember because they impacted the nation. Particularly the whole Nixon scenario, and the Vietnam war. The urban terrors of "sin-city" was, happily escaped by me and mine.

Thank you for the review Suzanna. I hope I'm putting a few things in that trigger memories in other people who lived during the same time. Our stories are all different, but we have a lot in common as well.

The seventies were a mixed bag of good things and bad things. The Watergate affair was the pits. The end of the Vietnam war was good. The poor soldiers from that war were not given any honour at the time. But ordinary citizens wended their way through those crazy times. Isn't it so disappointing when you hear about some of the things you children do when you are not there. Carol must have been over the moon with the room you built, just for her. You two were a going concern with an interesting family life. Plenty of action in every sphere. You write about so well it keeps me interested.

NB:
You drew up plans, and we ending by enclosing our carport and makeing that into the new den and dining

My suggestion:>> You drew up plans that enclosed our carport and made it into the new den and dining

to told her they wouldn't need her >> to tell her

The driver and a passenger seats were>> passenger seat
