What an absolutely beautiful love poem. You describe the perfect loving relationship, where silence is comfortable, and unspoken words are understood. Your last two lines basically describe my dream for my elder years, and the picture and background color you chose fit them perfectly.

    Love has a depth and richness to it as we grow older together... Often love has that depth and richness if we ARE older when we meet the soulmate we've imagined must have passed us by in our youth! A lot of romantics on site because this poem seems to have hit the heart of a lot of readers! Those final two lines are MY dream of my elder years as well! Thank-you!--Karenina

    I married my husband when I was 34 and he was 38. We'd each had serious relationships before, but this was the one that was meant to be, and it's stronger than ever now, 25 years later. Add me to that list of romantics. I've always been, and hope I always will be.

A very nicely written sonnet with a message that hit home with my married-52-years stage of life.

Love this. Being an aging romantic, it really touched me. "Intimacy's truth" wow. The last line leaves worlds yet to be discovered even when older.

    What poet said "Grow old with me, the best is yet to come?" I just asked "Mr. Google" (as my six year old grandson calls it...and I slightly mangled the quote but for our joint enjoyment here it is in its entirety: --"?Grow old along with me!     Grandkids make growing old ALMOST worth it! "doodle"---that is SO cute! When my kiddos were young my daughter said "hopsital" for hospital and my son said Basketti for spaghetti. Their 39 and 41 and I still tease them about it!--K

Hey Karenina, I always thought you had a way with rhythm and rhyme and this fine poem is an excellent example of your skill.

Yes, the impossible is reached as this couple realizes truth is real love, as they capture moments at a rustic cabin and the unlit torch is a brilliant touch.

How beautiful this poem is. The upward view through the tress and the cursive, make this poem elegant. "Every moment shared fulfills a need." I love that line. Not just in personal relationships, but in all of them, we are bound by needing each other and appreciating moments.
Thanks for such a heartfelt look at what true love is and how it lasts into rocking chairs, at least for the wise who appreciate their fate!
