Hi Chey--Happy 2009! Your Nonet is lovely; it is difficult to take a fixed form such as this and make it "sing," but you have indeed accomplished just that. There is rhythm, flow and beautiful content to your piece, as well as romanticism...well done! Best wishes to you in the contest.

Always,
Lark

Hi, tea--and Happy New Year! I like your streamlined acrostic and the warmth of the message. The artwork is beautiful and the content is fitting, uplifting and meaningful for the beginning of the year ahead. Nice, nice work and a pleasure to R & R.

Hey there, star--Lovely haiku with expressive and clear stellar images which not only give a visual, but also lend a sense of motion. Perfect traditional 5-7-5 syllable count and, as always a well-chosen, attractive and fitting graphic presentation. Good one, buddy; all the best to ya in the contest.

Always,
Lark

World Hunger by starkat

Hey star~Your quatrain entry carries a sobering message of the reality of world hunger--good descriptive use of language to convey the plight and communicate both a sense of urgency and sensitivity, as well. A meaningful write with good content and substance with an effective and fitting graphic choice.

A couple of possible tweaks for your consideration in the third stanza...Maybe try:

Fingers will point at (what) and (whose) to blame.
Many will cry and say, "It's a real shame."
Can humanity stop impending doom(;) (omit question mark)
lift its head above the gathering gloom?

Once again, a thoughtful and thought-provoking piece--best wishes to ya in the contest--of course!

Always,
Lark

Hi ya star~ Very enjoyable and cool use of the mini-monoverse. One of the greatest challenges of this form is that with the very limited syllable count, it is quite easy to have it come out sounding like dear Dr. Suess. I believe you have done an excellent job with the content and the result is quirky, fitting and creative. Loved it!

Have a great week...
Always,
:)Lark

Hey there star~Boy, I love that word "rainbanding"...This is a form of Cinquain I've not seen; your word choices create a sense of movement and image of destruction. Excellent graphic and nifty contest entry, with all structure requirements met. Best wishes to ya, of course!

Have a great weekend!

Hi ya star~I like what you have done here with the "given line"--creating a "stir" of emotion in your vignette while maintaining the requirements of the quatern form...very thoughtful and poignant with excellent graphic to enhance your well-crafted entry. I also appreciated the side note you shared--whew! Nicely done, my friend~and of course: all my very best to ya in the contest!

Happy, happy Easter to you and yours,
Always,

Hi ya star--This is lovely; your poem has a nice, wistful and soft feel to it--the words and images are "misty" and create the mood which your wonderful graphic image conveys. Enjoyed the gentle end rhymes, and the read was so pleasant, I read it more than once to let the message linger. Great job.

Happy St. Pat's--I know it's quite a "deal" in KC...

All my very best,
Lark

This is such a pretty piece of writing, JJ~The descriptive language is truly delightful, and like your other post, so very inviting. I particularly like the wording/image of "I create a garland of words/ to wrap around your imagination"--and as always, your photography and formatting is stunning. Super.

Hugs,
Lark
