Chapter 207 of the book Journal Log

Ah, poor Chad, lonely in love it seems! Hopefully someone new will come along to shake him out of his rut and act as an 'agent of chaos' - hopefully, a sexy one :-)

You do a great job at generating a palpable sense of place - some of your physical description phrases are glorious. You've managed to find that balance - fanciful, but realistic. I very much enjoyed :-)

Weak, strong with God by LittleIrishman

I think we all have our crutches and props that help us sustain daily life even when it's plaguing us. For many, this is religion, and there's a palpable value to that surety. For others, it might be family, a career, or a passionate hobby (such as writing :-)).

I guess the least fortunate are those who don't have anything to perch on when they need a rest.

Lol, I enjoyed this addition to the drama. The competition between the girls and the posturing of Chad made me smile. Image is everything, and fronting will do in place of confidence.

Us poor, weak guys, helpless when a lady stokes the fire while she holds our gaze and tastes our lips. If only we had the power to resist, to save ourselves from ourselves :-)

Too Little, Too Late: Viruses by Katherine M. Kean

As so often seems the case, when politics tries to dictate science, it all goes to pot. I have a friend who used to work for a prominent tech company, and the CEO had a habit of announcing products and their release dates with hopelessly tight deadlines, then blaming his programmers for not meeting them. The knock on effects of big statements, as you show with the research grants disappearing for something that will supposedly be eradicated, end up undermining something aspirational and making it impossible. It would be ironic if it wasn't tragic.

A flight of fancy that is, at heart, about creating flights of fancy :-). That's my kind of poem. I like that your inspiration is what leads to understanding, and interpreting our world is the best way to reveal what matters.

Yep, here's a subject guaranteed to make me want to cry on the train, and written with economy and pathos by someone who knows how to impart her feelings. I loved this.

Sometimes things come to us at exactly the right moment, timed to darken or brighten our days. This sounds like it was a beautifully timed moment. I love how you look at the beguiling nature of a good tune.

Yes, I am leaving! by Wendy G

Lol, this is both sweet and familiar. One of our cats, Freddie, hates it when I leave for work. My wife says he paces and sings, then gives her extra-insistent cuddles. When I get home, he makes a point of ignoring me. This gave me a lovely smile while I wait for my train this morning :-)
