I admired your dramatic, 5-Line love poem and the parallel artwork you selected. I liked your setting the scene "on the Bayou" in your title as well. Best wishes in the competition- Joan

You are absolutely right. I live below the Santa Monica Mountains in Malibu, California in a condominium, and about five years ago, as I was leaving to go down thirty-two steps to my garage, a dog came racing by because it was being chased by a mountain lion. Fortunately, he was startled by me, and the last thing I saw was his haunch and thick tale receding back into the foothills. Not taking any chances, I exited by my back door, realizing that I was in his territory. So many of these big cats have been killed trying to cross our freeways. (By the way, "development" lost its "t" in the third paragraph.) Best wishes in the contest- Joan

You are the mistress of the Adwl Sonnet form, and I always look forward to your embellishing your poems with your exquisite artworks. Thank you for this ensemble, since the Bird of Paradise is one of my favorite flowers. I enjoyed your comparing her to our feathered friends and to a "chief". Big cheers- Joan

My, my--your six, simple words say so much and conjure strong emotions. The parallel picture and alliteration of "d's" intensify the mood. Best wishes in the competition- Joan

I can see from the pictures of the wound and the dressing why your walking routine would be limited. (Mine has been interrupted by additional hip pain but I expect to get back on schedule tomorrow.) I am glad the hospital finally arranged for a nurse to dress it regularly and you have found a Government supported meal-substitute to help with weight loss. I don't know about government programs here, since I have just focussed on being gluten-free for the past ten years. I also did not know about the tussle between Woolworth and Apple. (I did just hear that the 99 Cent Stores have been accused of selling products with toxins in them.) Thanks for keeping me informed and here's to your improved recovery- Joan
