Goodbye My Darling Brother Jim by Chrissy710

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

Christine, your love for your brother, Jim, shines through this whole poem, and your expression of how he loved you is well written. The rhyming is very well done. A look back into you and your brother's life together is very emotional as well. So very sorry for your of your brother.

This seems to be a sonnet, and a very flowing one. I like the alliterations in
the first line: gunmetal, gray. I like the rhyming and descriptive words as well. Imagery is very clear throughout this poem. A particular line I like is: Raindrops stayed in bloated clouds. Nice poem.

Don't Be Afraid , It's Halloween by Carmen Ducharme

I liked the tone of trick-or-treating with the children. The flow was good, and lots of descriptive words to describe what you see. I couldn't see how using a word (pee) to rhyme helped the poem. Although it's a natural thing to do, I wouldn't have said it that way. But actually I would have to work on another way, myself. Your poem has a nice brightness to it.

Good imagery and excellent use of action with the "tall grass sways".
good picture for this poem. Also a very emotive tone with "no children. The word "beckoning" also adds to the tone of lonesome without children.
Good alliterations: sun, shines, in the first line.

Great introduction focusing on God's strength, but also mostly speaking of inner faith- which made clear its source. Nice mention of Roosevelt, Bismarck, Lincoln, and Arc. i guess Joan of Arc. I like the rhyming of image and courage.

A very frightening, and flowing story with lots of imagery. The connection of calling on God through the whole ordeal is true and effective as such would be. The peep hold brings on?change while giving some hope, but waking completes what you'd hope for. Out of that dream.

Lots of sensory use-- .howling sounds...glowing red eyes, witches, bats pumpkins.
Effective use in changing font color to show writing on a tombstone. Many well used descriptive words. The only thing is if the list of things seen and heard. Was shortened a bit--might be better.

Nice introduction that gets right into the main focus of the Ellerby place. Good dialogue. I think the ending wasn't as strong or scary as I?had predicted. I wasn't sure what, but didn't seem to wtap this story up as well as the set-up of a haunted house.
But has a comical ending.
