powerful poem with a much needed message or series of messages rather posted at the perfect time. awesome that you posted those links too. it's something. most do nothing. this poem is something too, a lovely attempt at reducing suffering and improving the quality of life and happiness for folks struggling. stuff like this is why God invented poetry.

very well said. its truth is evidenced in every country if you check the right spots, people, situations, and im guessing it shall forever remain true, which means you wrote a timeless poem; which is pretty rad as far as im concerned. thanks for the uplifting sentiments, shared openly, as such sentiments should be, for oft ive exclaimed that hello should likely be replaced with, I love you, and goodbye with, ...see ya later.

it's cool how so short a poem can take one on such a long journey, even were that picture, that rad picture, not accompanying. cool how so many smells and sensations can be injected for a reader of a poem like this. can feel hear taste smell and see the poem, inside my mind, the bird, the salt air, the tranquil breeze ruffling its feathers, the old pier, the implied surroundings therefore. great stuff. seems to me you honor haiku with this post. thanks for sharing.

Deliverance: an Ode to the sun by Zinnia48

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

A slice of sun slips under my window shade

love it!

teasing me with memories of summer

super creative opening

when her reflection lives

lives or lived?

on my garden pond

preening like a movie starlet on a glossy cover.

neat thought and unique description/imagery!

I would stir until she spun into honey

love it

sweetening my soul

sonorous and poignant

with heaven's heat

alliterative and interesting (double space twixt heaven's and heat?)

seasoning my spirit with the sanctity of the sacred lotus

creative/cool/pretty/intriguing

cattails mewing

cool

to creatures who roost above its roots

'digging' the description

goldstrike rushes napping at noon.

cool

I seize the sun as I try to seize the day.

I seize the sun...love it...
(double space between 'sun' and 'as'?)

It's still March and I am but a beggar

catchy

holding out cupped hands to catch whatever promise

a single shaft of light delivers.

reminds me of that line about trading in one's empire for a glass of water...in the desert...powerful stuff...sometimes the only hope one has is the hope that a seed of hope will someday exist.

It drifts through my fingers

well put

Gold dust spins around me
I am delivered.

beautiful ending to an awesome poem. potent and plenty upon which to pontificate.

a slice of sun slips under my window shade...

I knew right off this was gonna be awesome, and I was dead freakin' right!

The Long Run by jlsavell

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

I watch you with a discerning eye
typing the words which spill like crossword puzzles

cool line

The crease in your brow tenses

nice description

I smile.

:)

This kind of love;
a delicate balance between
hunger and desire

cool

Vulnerable hearts conditioning for the long run

great line

We love with fists on the table
Tears on our cheeks
Whimpers on our tongues
Like a roaring fire to be fed
or the sheets begging to be rumpled

intense, superb imagery and such emphatic drama! powerful stuff.

Bang, bang on the chest as lustful animals
Slamming doors which rattle the walls

well said

I hear that song
which plays incessantly in my head
"Love hurts"

Nazareth 1979? or another version?

Like the first time you try to run
Not far, for the burn tempts you to stop

well put

The constant stretching and warming, adapting
Awakening reflexes which coil and release
Learning to let go and pace the stride
so the distance is attainable,

well said again

Yes, I watch you even behind the rain
Your animated gestures
The spring in your step
Your zest replaces weariness

lovely

And I know we have learned to love differently
Faithfully, thoughtfully, completely, respectfully
Through the hot and cold inhales

cool

the excruciating exhales

nice adjective choice from alliteratively speaking to adding emphasis, of which it provides both...

mindful hearts

neat concept
beyond that finish line

and even beyond the finish line at the end, which makes one wonder if it has an end at all...but then poems don't end, do they? anyway, awesome, love it, great post, and the song you posted with the author's notes...highly entertaining, thanks for sharing. the long run is an astute title, or apposite may be the word im looking for not sure. that art work is honored by and honors the poem as well, a symbiosis of harmony that supersedes the power of either alone.
