Now That Takes the Cake by Susan Larson

Exceptional

You know,

This is a VERY frustrating episode
for the father. He has enough shit
throughout the day establishing
and maintaining his manhood
without killing the Goddamn
morons in his and mankind's
way.

So, when the imbecile progeny
of his, that he loves without
parameter, doesn't listen to him,
but rather mommy...Jesus H. Christ,
don't you women ever understand?

It just compiles castration for the male.
Oh, I forgot, we are sooooo f....d up,
that all this is redundant, and completely
ignored by the mate.

I have sooooo much sympathy for the male
in this, that I now feel like a mysoginist.

I'm surte I f....d up the spelling. Sorry.

But, this was sooooooo educational for the
male, that I must render a six unto this,
or be relegated to the, uh, yup, you know.

Shit.

Pigtails, Mitts, and Summer Days by Mrs. KT

Oh my, oh my.

What have we wrought here?

I must say, it reminds me,
nay...hints, of the day...
I played baseball.

Oh yes...a heady game.
Can you, could you, will you
stand again as mouse...yet...
perhaps this time swing,
with no concern, with all your might,
to dare, to leave your basic plight,
despite all fears you have inside-

I will
I live
I can

You say to all inside...

Does Fate truly listen?
Or just the circumstance
prevail this time?

Perhaps thy cry
this time resounds
with all in time.

As you strike,
so sure,
so naturelicsh,
just this time,

and hit what all would dream
with rhyme...

another...
so...inclined.

About My Mom - Phyllis Stewart by Phyllis Stewart

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

It is sad, but wonderful to see
Phyllis live again through her daughter.

Phyllis and I...were never close...but instead,
seemed to share a similar passion concerning
words. I review seldom. But still, Phyllis, just recently,
reviewed one of my poems.

"For Tori."

Her first line completely humbled me.
Reminded me, of all, of why, of le raison
d'etre. Le sin que non. (sp?) The...
je ne sais quoi.

Non, je ne parle pas francais.

Ich spreche deutsche.

Und Anglais.

Und alles das Phyllis denkt,
aber vielleicht nicht sprachen habe.

I should...have loved her more.
For she was quite, in her own way,
supportive of me.

I wish to give you my condolences,
and my most humble apologies.

Ich mochte nur, das ich werde alle

Well, I guess you knew what
you were talking about when
you said to stop by.

Your brief story read like
something I would have done.

No, this doesn't make me wonderful.
I simply admire such compassion in
your story. the way we all should be.

N'est pas?

Have a six.

American Basics by Susan Larson

Exceptional

My dear Susan,

Victor here.
And there.

Immigration.
Hmmm.
Always bothered me when we become
selective.

Turn down impoverished,
disadvantaged, brutalized
people from anywhere.

They, are...
always the most grateful,
hardest working, best Americans...
just like our fore-fathers.

Just like what we used to be.
What we should represent.
What the Statue of Liberty
was always meant to .

Light the unquenchable torch.
A light to burn as long as
America, ney-Americans can stand.

Shall we not stand upright any more?
Must we look down as we cast our
selfishness as a shadow upon the world?

America must...bleed again.
Suffer...together again.
Live for something other than
sustainable pleasure.

I desire employment at the gate
to our sanctuary as it must ever
remain such.

As you can see,
this writing affected me.

I have no clue by Sandra du Plessis

Excellent
Not yet exceptional. When the exceptional rating is reached this is highlighted

Ain't it the truth, Sandra.
Good little ditty about us
poets.

You know, this may sound like
I'm a little full of myself, but-
I can't remember a case of writer's
block since I started writing
poetry 15 years ago.

Really?
Yes. I only write when I feel
inspired, by whatever. Any subject.
For instance, when my mom with dementia
telling me there was a light
emanating from a bag of sugar.

Seriously.
I thought-this is too good to not
put something together around it.

Now,
before poetry, all I ever experienced
was total writer's block all the time,
on any occasion I "had" to write
something.

LOL
