The Breakdown of the Moon
by Changeisgood
Fine poem Franny......
The mysterious moon.....for millenia a source of wonder, worship, romance. Reduced to dust and rocks by probing man.
Yet I would argue.....it still holds wonder and energic power for you, it still makes your breath catch and heart spin in a moonlit night. As for me, as for much of humanity.
Does knowledge diminish? Most scientist have a sense of powerful awe the more they discover, not less. The experience of those who stood on the surface of the moon has diminished none of the awe. Awestruck then and now.
Are there many who close their eyes to the magnificence of all around us...for sure. Eyes are there, though, waiting to be opened.
Lovely work, lovely lady.....H x

Thanks, Blue, for your LOVELY response. Yet, intellectual knowledge alone does much to diminish wonder in certain types. I've read many books by scientists and they divide into two camps: those totally without reverence and those who've managed to retain it. Thanks so much for bringing up the many others who still are in love with nature, the moon, and the rest of it. So glad you are back in action! Franny
