This poem is a lovely tale of the animal which does live up Here in the high hills in Mackay Queensland.The picture and description are correct and he is a dear, but strange little animal.They are very hare to find or see.i myself have not seen one but know they are there in the streams in the Range. So true are all the verses and well spoken. It is a good thing that not a lot of people live in anticipation of being in the Land of Oz, if there are a lot.This was rather funny though said with a warning to all-do not hope for too much in this world or you may be disappointed. I found this to be a striking set of verses- amazing yet powerful in their content. Gosh what a vision you must have in seeing this place. So many pictures conjured up with every line,--- but a question-second verse-"where reddish soil respires (that carpet levitates with sorrow)" a bit hard to take in and comprehend; and the meaning of the word in the third verse.---step intrepid "opes" a world. This could have been a really different poem with its unusual striking picture and a contrast of different thoughts; but the rhythm is a little spoiled by the spelling or typing mistakes--as in and "uaproachable"-----unaproachable.

A very sensitive picture and A lovely verse from a teacher who seems to care about some of his pupils, which is a rare gift in this day and age. I think it is wonderful that this young boy who cannot read still goes to school.I wonder if anyone has considered there may be something wrong with his eyesight , which is often the case. Probably he does not care for some reason. You are a good person.Lesley.J.M ooney

This is a beautiful story with tales of his father's life and the way they lived then in the country.Oh what memories he has and will not forget, with a father who was si ck and tired, so I assume he died.There are many old people with memories of the past not forgotten but not written down for their children to read.How sad.Lesley.J.Mooney(Dancerwriter)
