Ah, Jimi, what a tender, wonderful poem about someone who had a great influence on your life. I never knew any of my relatives, so when I read about relationships like this I get a vicarious pleasure. How lucky for you to have known such man.

Here's a sixer!

Hi Paige,

I found your poem so moving and the artwork completed the picture to perfection. I am a strong believer in euthanasia and if I misinterpreted the poem, please forgive me.

How can anyone disagree with this final right? In a world where we can concur with abortion, a procedure involving the taking of another person's life without their input,
and yet say that a person of sound mind and age has no right to make the decision to end their own life after due thought and consideration rather than writhing in agony for the remainder of their 'life'? This is convoluted thinking, imho.

Anyway, your poem stirred great emotion in me, as it was meant to do! Here, have a sixer!

This was simply outstanding, Jimi. Very dark and sinister, gave me goosebumps at times. This free verse is excellent and you are a master at it.

Great job,

For God's sake, Lance, would you please publish the 'call in' number??? I've been sitting here for months trying to get on the Martin the Man show and the frustration is killing me!!! Mercy! Please! I have to get a word in edgewise!

Like: why does having his own, private locker room translate into his being denied the company of women? He attends school with them, sees them everywhere he goes.

If he turns off other women, if they won't socialize with him, pick him for the team, designate him as their leader, does that automatically translate into them being bigots? Is the whole team out of step but Lila? Well, according to 'him', it would seem so. I categorically disagree.

Oddly enough, I spent a large part of yesterday afternoon with my hairdresser, who happens to be homosexual. As always seems to happen, the topic turned political and next thing you know, we're talking about gay issues.

So, once again, he says to me, 'believe me, I'm conservative, it's how I live and what I believe in. And yet, how can I vote for someone who's against me having the same civil rights that my straight friends have?

"If they'd just stay out of my bedroom, I'd always vote Republican. As it is, I just don't vote." Deep sigh.

Oh, btw, you spelled Lila with an 'e', about midway through the article.

PM me with that phone number and I'll see you 'on the air', lol.

Hugs,
Gayle

Hi Jimi,

God sends us these amazing fur-babies as special gifts, I think. I've had so many over the years, each one different and unique, loving. Indeed, age creeps up on us unseen - one day you're 40, in your prime, they say, next day you're 70.

Great poem, my friend,

Have another sixer, my friend! Beautiful poem from a beautiful lady.

...Like sweet, sweet music in the far distance;
we rise from our comfortable sofa
of isolation, tossing the strangling discord of apphrehension
and we dance
Why, because we love...

Outstanding!

Gayle

Oh Jimi,

I have missed your poetry so much. I loved the imagery as well as the feelings of love and companionship.
Reminds me of Jeff and me.

Thanks so much - it went well with my coffee!

Hugs and love,
Gayle

Children Living in the Fourth World by Sasha

Hi Sasha, yes the plight of the poor in the world is horrific, and one that has existed forever. It's funny how Mexico feels justified in deporting their illegals, but they think we should just swallow all their illegals! Kinda makes me laugh.

Below are some editing needs to consider:

simply means(,) dropped off across - don't need comma

ensure not insure

intp s/b into

Because of the poverty and desperation{,} the gangs and coyotes - add comma

A few make it across the river{, add} but those that do(, delete) are also beaten and robbed when they arrive on the Mexican side.

threaten then {them}with rape

Hope you're having a nice summer,

Gayle

Hey Lance, excellent chapter. Just makes you crazy, how some people are born believing the world owes them everything. And what a great twist that he'd been planning on asking her to marry him.

Great one!
