Dementia, the Savior by B. Diehl

I've often told people I'd rather have dementia than a crippled body.

My mom had MS & was in a wheelchair in a nursing home over 14 years. She died at 61.

Dementia would have been a blessing to her.

Thank you for sharing such a painful intimate part of your life with me. I am glad to know that your Faith helped you through the pain & helped you to appreciate the short moment you had with your daughter!

It's not always easy, but when you can see the gifts in your life it somehow helps to make the wounds heal stronger.

I know this has always been a sad memory, but I am thankful that you have been able to use it to help keep your family together & whole.

I think your writing was very good. I don't give excellent. I'm sorry.

I have started noticing how many people do though so I need to reevaluate my understanding of the rating system.

thanks for explaining - the rating system translates 4 as - good, needs improvement, so it is customary to explain to the writer what improvement you are looking for :-)

B, I truly hope that people see your true genius! People think that we (as Bipolars) are the crazy ones.

I believe that we see the truth that others can't. We are not crazy. They are ignorant.

'"Slam, slam, slam!" cries the lesbian to God. And God picks up the Bible, demands it be revised!' is the best line I have ever read in a poem!

So sad. Dementia is mean. It steals the best of the person.

I think though that it is harder on the loved ones than the person affected. At least I hope so.

I hope that once the initial fear passes for the sufferer that they can relax into a calm of forgetfulness.

Maybe without the memories they can live without the guilt of having forgot their loved one's names?
