This is an unusual but poignant point of view of the deceased. It reads like an out of body experience and in a way it is. The lines are simple, the imagery vivid, the message is one of no regrets for an expected event.

The strength of this poem to me is in its contrasts emphasized by the image of the merry-go-round and the roller coaster. The merry-go-round offers safety and predictability while the roller coaster offers a wild, thrilling experience. This becomes a metaphor for the romantic relationship the speaker discovers.

The strength of this poem is its imagery. The word choice is creative and imaginative when describing weather and the roller coaster backdrop for talking about weather brings the reader along for the ups and downs of weather changes.

Annoying by nbonner

The success of this poem stems from the emotional context that seems to come directly from the heart without any filter. The speaker is fed up with the people around her and there is no doubt about how she feels. I think there are times when we all get that sense of annoyance with people we can't seem to get rid of, and so the speaker somewhat speaks for the reader too.

IN this very brief poem you have captured the irony of the same words being used in very different contexts, which to me emphasizes the differences of their meaning with a sense of humor that comes from the different images these words create.

The Tortured Poet by Poetic Friend

There is an intensity to this poem that has been achieved in very few words, but very effective words. I get the impression from this poem that the need to write becomes intense for the poet and the relief when the writing is finished is like being cured of something. I think most writers can relate very well to this poem.

Joey's story is told in a vivid way that makes the reader see Joey physically and emotionally. Mental health is a difficult subject to deal with when something is wrong but diagnosis is difficult. The frustration for Joey and the people around him is well expressed in this story and it raises the issue of how to deal with such profound behavioral disorders. Your love and loyalty to your son seem to be the answer.
