My first book of poems... by Meia (MESAYERS)

Will do. Good luck with the two books. I am looking forward to reading the whole thing(s). I am, however, quite the luddite, and must wait for the hard copy. I hate kindle, even though I have and will continue to publish in the format (you know, it being today, in an era where no one really reads, and if they do it is somehow online. Again, good luck. Just for fun I considered giving this advertisement one star, but I like your writings too much, so you get just the traditional five--

Another great piece. I truly enjoy your particular focus, historical crimes in the mold of tragic poetry. It is really quite lovely. More more more!

This is great. I am glad to see your style here, where there are so many evangelical preachers. Many are even good at that. But this . . . this is the tone many people seek and it makes a very strong point in it's own right. Because you are new, here--take a six star! It's a five, but why not. I rarely give these out. Nice work.

This is obviously a great message, but I am going to focus on this as poetry, and there are a few problems. It is passionate and clearly very sincere. You offer a hopeful message and the idea of a better way to the future. But there are a few lumps in your rhythm. In the first stanza ''hood' reads like you were struggling for something to rhyme with 'stood.' It comes across false. 'No good'? or some other variation? The fourth line in the second stanza . . . I will not be rude, I will just mention that there is some trouble here. The third stanza is excellent. The final two don't really reconcile your point and are a little confusing. I get what you are implying, but this seems a little too urgent, or commanding. This is very good and I will give you the five just because this site does averages and penalties, but right now I give it 4.

Very sweet and lovely. Not personally to my taste, as I tend to dwell in misery, but you have done a wonderful job depicting, I guess, actual love. Nice work.

This piece can be taken on a number of levels and each one of them retaining quite a bit of power. You could be talking about the latest horrible mass killing, or some atrocious tragedy or maybe it is just the sullen inevitability of death. I am not generally a huge fan of these limited format poems, but you nailed this one. Great job.

This is lovely. At first I had a bit of a gag reflex reading it (the first few lines) when I looked upon it as sappy and fragile, without yet knowing what you were getting at. However, as I continued reading I realized that such delicacy is not just an expression of the emotions felt, but also a subtle romanticizing of memory, taking what is missing or lost and turning it into a peaceful revere. There is pain here, yes, but also a beauty of survival in the aftermath. And, separate from all of that, it flows wonderfully, a two-beat rhythm hopping and skipping along. Nice job.

And yet sometimes sorry is not enough. Sometimes, if you keep saying you're sorry because you keep making the same mistakes, apologies lose all meaning, don't they?

Apologies God For I Have Sinned by Tia Attwood

This is beautifully worded. It is an excellent take on what is ultimately a tired old formula--religious regret and human nature. Excellent job. I am not religious and frankly have contempt for organized faiths (and I have no real idea if you are religious either, as you give some conflicting examples), but I generally appreciate literature of this sort.

Veterans Day by fivecardstud1247

While this is lovely and patriotic, there is a problem I have with this as a statement on all veterans. (And: E--the, not his, job he chose to do; S--he'll not he). Okay, so I, too, am a veteran. I served America for quite a long time. But you and I both know that not all soldiers are good people. Some of them even get into it because it is the only place they believe they can legally kill people. Many soldiers are flat out savages--the bad guys in every situation even when fighting against an enemy. This is not to discount the majority heroism and pride of most soldiers serving their nation (and I mean any nation), but it is also something we need to be aware of as the degeneracy, the pillaging, the violent oppression and rapes that have been going on since ancient times really have not disappeared. War is a terrible thing to experience and being gung ho about it and somehow feeling at home is a perversion we should all watch out for. This is a very good work, but I just can't get past my own personal experience.
