Halloween is my favorite holiday. People put a mask on and can finally be themselves. People are afraid to be themselves for fear someone will think they are phoney and will realize the fear we all have, that people will see through us that we are shallow imposters. When I was teaching 6th grade, the students that observed Tammy Fay Baker wore a scary mask to hide her shame. This poem is powerful.

When you said Parade I was thinking Charade hehe. Well done. Have not seen you in a very long time. I am only still here because some kind soul paid for me to stay. Loved your poem and layout. Hope you will check out some of my more recent stuff. Can't remember how long since you have been around but we went through some big changes a while ago.

This is cute! I can visualize this happening on a street somewhere in USA. lol
I guess that is one way to get some chickens to eat! This reminds me of a time when our neighbors had Guineas and the neighbor kids had even named them. Well, my husband and I were leaving to go somewhere and the Guineas got in the way. The next thing I know we hit a Guinea and James had to go tell our neighbor about hitting the bird and watch as some of her little ones cried about the Guinea. lol thanks for the story. katy

Interesting poem. It reminds me of a conversation I had with my husband about a robber wearing a mask. How do you go about describing the robber since everyone has a mask now? I told him, well guess you describe the mask...like the guy was tall and had a Mickey Mouse mask on his face. hehe. Thanks for sharing, Katy

These masks are going to be a fashion accessory for a long time and we had better get used to it. A poignant poem Ada as we are confused and fearful and also in panic, food for thought here, love Dolly x

Fantastic descriptions. I can totally see everything as you described it. I can even feel the strength needed to keep the dog in place. This was very well written and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Good luck in the contest.

Dear Author, this poem carries a wonderful and necessary message.
I just wish that you would have added punctuation to this particular post, because I could not determine which two lines to put together, To follow your intended meaning.

I love the picture of the jewel and background. This is a valuable poem and one that maybe students would benefit from as well as adults. Girls, especially are tough on themselves, so I love this important, well written poem.
Thanks for sharing!
