Jan firmly believes in never growing up, even though her five children appear to have done so. The daughter of a history professor and an artist, she learned to paint pictures with words at an early age.
An avid reader, she was never able to find one of those magic portals into her favorite stories, until "Julu", the opal dragon came along and took her to Jirvania.
Julu ~ Book One in the Julu series) is available on Amazon.com in paperback, hardcover and ebook format. It is also available through Audible.com as an audiobook, narrated by the exceptionally talented Jannie Meisberger.
Julu continues to delight readers of all ages, and has received wonderful reviews. Check it out today!
The second book in the series, 'Jirvania', is currently being posted on FanStory, as it is written.
Her YA Science Fiction novel, Silverback, is also being presented on FanStory.

Nicole Hawley: You definitely paint pictures with words here. I was a little confused with the entrance of the gorilla without knowing the background first. I must admit, this is quite dark - "You killed him." You achieve a very nice balance of prose with dialogue. It's definitely not labored and flows very nicely. Good world building as I was brought into that living room. I was just wondering what the age demographic is for the story/your target audience.

Found my nephew, Johno! Woo Hoo! Or to be more Australian about it - you beauty! Four years ago, I posted, "Searching For Christopher," -- an open letter to my nephew, who was adopted at birth. He contacted us just last week. So happy I am! :-)

I live on a small farm with my husband and daughter, five miles from the mighty Mississippi. When I'm not working or writing, we ride our Kentucky Mountain Saddle horses and travel.

Kate Austin: Dear Jan,
Awhile ago you gave me "the key" to my piece. Your comment was that my story had been done over and over. Well I stepped out of the box, created a character and would love to have you review my piece. I will happily compensate you with member dollars or whatever. It is a short piece. Children's spiritual picture book-written in verse. I would prefer to send it to another email address as I would like to include an illustration or two for your feedback. Also, my work posted here is not up to date. If you would be so kind you can e-mail me your address katedeegan@windstream.net. Thanks so much. Hope to hear from you.
