Her screen name is HalfHoff, but could just as well be HoffFull. She wrote a few girlish things in high school, and did not write again until her mother (behind her back) signed her up on a poetry site in April of 2005. Since then, and ONLY because of the encouragement and support of fellow poets, she has written over 350 poems and short stories, and her first book "From My Side Of The Fence" has been published.

She has kissed a lot of frogs and wished on many stars, and still believes that her fairy tale may someday come true. In the meantime, writes western, kinda' romantic, humorous poetry and short stories. She lives on a ranch in the Black Hills of South Dakota with Martin, a yellow lab, Schottzie, a fat wienner dog, Smudgen the cat and too many horses. She wants to thank you for reading her writings and hopes you laugh ... always.

I am so honored to be considered one of your peers. XO Lea Ann

HalfHoff: This new format really throws dumb ol girls like me for a loop - but I'm a player, so here goes:

After my mother repeatedly received invitational email from a poetry site, she posted one of my high school poems without my knowledge. Some days later, she confessed ... and so I went to have a look at what the 'real' writing communittee thought of me.

I had received one review. It read, and I quote: "You suck and I hope you DIE! You should never try to ever write another thing again as long as you live. Give the world a break and get a real job!"

I was so devistated - I cried for days, constantly. I only wanted to gather enough courage to login to that website one more time, just long enough to erase every trace of me.

When, at long last,I did, noticed three more reviews had been offered, and figured as long as I was down, might as well let them kick me too.

However, those three reviews changed my life. Not only were they helpful and supportive, but each asked me to submit again. AND EVERY one of them wrote me that my first review came from a 'trial member' who had spent the entire week of his unpaid reign sending degrading comments to as many NEW members as he possibly had time for.

Had I not had the guts to at least go back and erase my site, I would have NEVER written again. Never.

Do NOT focus your attention on one or two negative reviews. Consider the advise from TRUE communitee of writers at Fanstory. They will not only inspire and support you, they will make you better, I promise.

Thank you. Lea Ann

Mike K2: I love this comment and it is so true. Apparently, I have been responsible in getting new members to sign on, for the express purpose of ripping my poems. But then, that can be considered a sign of sucess and let you know, they are getting attention. My advice with reviews is to always check out the reviewer. That way, if they are a new person onboard, you understand and also with looking into their portfolio and other comments, you learn how to take it and what to dismiss.

With only minutes to spare, the new format did take a little time to realize it changed. I am so fatigured, things bounce and roll around anyway. If you need a real laugh, MSN changed my browser at the same time.

Just2Write: Excellent words of advice, LeaAnn - How vey true. We must focus on those that offer positive feed-back and ignore (I know that's tough) the one's who are a pain. Keep writing. You are an inspiration to many.
