I joined Fanstory in 2008 under the handle "alpacalady". I've taken a few breaks here and there, due to house moves and sometimes finances (lack thereof) but am now making an effort to keep my subscription up to date.

My new name Gypsymooncat reflects my star-sign (Cancer), my gypsy status from 2016 - 2018, and that I am the proud parent of a cute pooch and three sweet pussy cats.

My partner, Dwain, and I have settled in a beautiful part of NSW on the South Coast. This area combines the best of all the worlds we love: bush, mountains and sea. (That's me on the right; Dwain is the one with the beard lol).

I'm an avid reader, as well as a scribbler. Dwain marvels that I'm the only person he knows who can go to sleep holding a book and not drop it straight away. I'll be snoring for a good five minutes or more before the book ends up on the floor.

During these days of quarantine, I'm finding it hard to stay awake at ANY time of day. I have nanna naps at roughly 1pm nearly every day. They last for two hours on average. Then I go to bed that night and sleep for two hours, wake up, sleep for two hours...I question whether this is quarantine-related or age? Sometimes, I try to write any more than one line and I'm nodding off over the keyboard. It's strange having imprints of the alphabet on my head.'s

My butt is sore from sitting down
my neck and shoulders ache.
My fingertips are wearin' frowns;
they need a bloody break.

I feel some guilt because the sun
is shining really bright.
But in my head there's stuff inside
that needs to see the light.

I love the sunshine's rays but
crave the light of readership.
My bum is square, and as I said,
I flogged those fingertips.

Why can't I get off from the chair
and get some Vitamin D,
instead of planting myself there
for all eternity?

Yes, I could take my phone out
in the sunshine for a stint;
and screw my eyes up squinting
at that tiny screen and print..., I will keep on sitting
on the pc tweaking pomes;
I'll break the cord next week
and sit among the garden gnomes

There are folk who stir up trouble
everywhere they roam.
I'd really like to burst their bubble,
from my chair at home.

They write reviews with ratings, low
and think that's pretty cool.
They "talk" like they are in the know,
and take us all for fools.

I wish they would just go away;
their comments are absurd.
Or at the least, cut what they say
in half ... or maybe third!

    Michele Harber: Anytime, Chris. Apparently my cell phone liked your piece twice as much as I did, as it saw fit to post my comment twice. (The first time I hit "Send," it didn't indicate that it went through so I tried again and, of course, both went through.)

Gypsymooncat: I once was told that a person can achieve a lot by doing nothing.

I've done nothing and still the house looks like a bomb site.

Gypsymooncat: On the tail end of my series "I Hate It When", two people have suggested I write about what makes me happy.

How does one write about what makes them happy and make it FUNNY? I know this sounds like a question that should have an obvious answer, ie, what makes a person happy will be funny. But I beg to differ. What annoys a person will always be funnier than what makes a person happy. I'll support my theory thus:

What makes me happy:

Flowers. They're pretty and bright and make my garden look like Eden. What's funny about that?

What annoys me:

Underpants that don't fit. Because they roll underneath my belly and make me feel like I'm wearing a thong on backwards. Now, THAT'S funnier isn't it?

So, if anyone sees this, please advise me on how to write about what makes me happy that in turn will make you lot LAUGH!

Meanwhile, I'll wrack my brains trying to think of ways to write what makes me happy that will be amusing rather than tiresome!

    My butt crack, that's visible when I'm weedin'.

    That's how you make what makes you happy funny! ;-)
