I have returned to Fanstory after a break of nearly two years. I wrote under the handle "alpacalady" but decided that as I no longer am part of an alpaca breeding concern, my id needed changing. My new name Gypsymooncat reflects my star-sign (Cancer), my gypsy status over the last two years, and that I am the proud parent of a cute pooch Benji and three gorgeous cats Tig (aka Fabio, named after Trager/Tig in Sons of Anarchy), Luci (short for Lucifer as she is the Devil's child lol) and Chucky (named after another character in Sons of Anarchy...lucky Chucky doesn't have that character's rather awkward, er, habits lol) but he's cute and sweet like Chucky is in that show, hence the name. And it's got nothing to do with the fact we're Sons addicts and always will be!
My partner and I have settled in South Durras, a beautiful part of the NSW South Coast. This area combines the best of all the worlds we love: bush, mountains and sea. In Durras, we're surrounded by forest, beaches and lakes; it truly is a beautiful place to live. Expensive, but beautiful lol! The community here is slightly removed from Batemans Bay itself really. Most who live here are those who've retired (not us sadly) and bought out here as it's far enough from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to be easily accessible. Durras is a holiday area, meaning that over 50% of homes stand empty until holiday season. A sad waste of much-needed housing, but it means it's fairly quiet here most of the year, then switches to a thriving metropolis during holiday periods.
Currently, I'm not working as my poor, wee back gave out on me. So I'm faced with more time on my hands while I try to rest and heal, and to that end, I've been re-writing a lot of the poems I wrote over 10 years ago. Some I'd originally posted on here, but not all. I've also written a few new ones, which is a great plus, and adds to my already bulging portfolio lol!
It's strange, but on returning after this latest spell away, I've found a renewed desire to "perfect" my work, find a cost-effective way of getting it published and finally see my name on the spine of a book (I know, I know...good luck with that lol). In saying that, I do find the utmost pleasure in writing anyway, and fiddling with something until it's as perfect as I can get it. I think that's every writer's obsession: Perfection...don't you think? But let's not lose the enjoyment and divine connection it gives either!
As an aside, I've joined other Sites in recent years too, but always keep Fanstory as my utmost favourite because it has everything a budding writer could want, plus it boasts a very clear and uncomplicated layout. Other Sites I've joined are difficult to navigate, are laid out chaotically, and it's hard to give and get decent feedback. Vive la Fanstory!

Gypsymooncat:
On the tail end of my series "I Hate It When", two people have suggested I write about what makes me happy.
How does one write about what makes them happy and make it FUNNY? I know this sounds like a question that should have an obvious answer, ie, what makes a person happy will be funny. But I beg to differ. What annoys a person will always be funnier than what makes a person happy. I'll support my theory thus:
What makes me happy:
Flowers. They're pretty and bright and make my garden look like Eden. What's funny about that?
What annoys me:
Underpants that don't fit. Because they roll underneath my belly and make me feel like I'm wearing a thong on backwards. Now, THAT'S funnier isn't it?
So, if anyone sees this, please advise me on how to write about what makes me happy that in turn will make you lot LAUGH!
Meanwhile, I'll wrack my brains trying to think of ways to write what makes me happy that will be amusing rather than tiresome!

My butt crack, that's visible when I'm weedin'.
That's how you make what makes you happy funny! ;-)

My eyes are going square, I need to close em soon
Can't keep the darn things open and it's only afternoon!
I need a little nanny nap
But a cat is sleeping on my lap
To shoo him, I don't have the heart
But he'll take off when he hears me f**rt!!

Hmmmm .... I don't know what my thoughts are at present. Although, it's been a very nice day today and I've hardly set foot outside in it. I've been holed up writing and reviewing and getting a sore neck. Not to mention an overworked mind. I'll be retiring tonight with rhymes and meters and all sorts of stuff going over and over in my head.
Yea, 'tis a trueism -
we Poets think in rhyme and meter. Always.
Simon says. And so does Peter.
Give it up!! Quit while ahead
Where's the cup and where's the bread ... ?
Can writing all day cause a person to be
like a drunk when they've done nothing alcoholically?
I think so for I feel a lot like I've
Imbibed a bottle or...hic...twenty-five

WryWriter: Pick up your feet
Get some sleep
I've no clue
What has you blue
I wish you the best
With your night's rest
Maybe in the morn
You'll feel reborn

Gypsymooncat: Hi Wry
I think that I
am heartened by
thy wishes for rest
so at your behest
I went off to bed
laid down my head
later in the night
the cats had a fight
which stole my sleep
I started to weep
then woke up this morning
unrested and yawning
Lol!

And if improvement is much needed
constructive critiques should thus be heeded
