Aislinge is a practicing writer -- as in, practicing to be good enough to publish. She's published 3 short stories B.C. (Before Children), and has finally gotten back to writing now that the kids are older. She's participated in NaNoWriMo since 2005, and has completed seven of her eight NaNo novels. Honest, constructive feedback is what she seeks to improve her writing, and she strives to do the same for others.
She lives with her family on a small hobby farm, where she focuses on gardening in the summer, and writing in the winter.

Favorite authors include Terry Goodkind, JD Robb, Janet Evanovich, Terry Brooks, Jim Butcher, Kathy Reichs, and many more.

Aislinge: Just got back from the Write-By-The-Lake Retreat at UW-Madison. Wow, what a great experience! If anyone has an opportunity to participate in a writing retreat, try it! Lots of great energy, encouragement, and enthusiasm. Now, if I could get inspired like this pulling weeds...

redrider6612: Welcome back, Julie! I'm so glad you had such a great experience at the retreat. Does this mean will be treated to some new stories? I hope so

Aislinge: New, maybe not quite yet. Our instructor, who is working furiously on the first of her 3 contracted manuscripts for Penguin, left us with strict instructions to 'get those query letters sent out'. I've got some revisions to do, and a query letter to polish and send out. Hey, *click* great idea. I may just post my query here to get some feedback. Then I'll probably start revision the next book in the series :-)

Aislinge: Just a note. Not only am I trying to heavily revise my first two novels, I'm taking a college course (for college credit :-0) in technical communication this semester. Don't know what I was thinking...wait, it must've been that New Year's resolution kicking in. I'll be pretty scarce around here for a while, but I'll pop in every so often, maybe even send a PM or two. Now, if I could only convince Old Man Winter it's really not necessary to make a pit stop in MN this season...

SeLF: I hope things are going well. Good luck with that technical communication course. I know you'll do a great job combining the novels.

Aislinge: Hi S! My Tech Comm course is required, and maybe it's the fact I'm a writer besides, but it seems to be loaded with common sense stuff. *shrug* I'll keep in touch!

SeLF: Sounds like you'll ace it because you ARE a writer!

Aislinge: Hey, gang! I probably won't be posting for a bit. I'm working on combining the first and second Donovan & Drake books into one in time to submit the draft for my writing retreat this summer. I'm hoping to get that done by the end of Feb. Sorry! I do have the third book roughed out (from NaNo a couple years back). Have a great week!

SeLF: Oh, this sounds SO exciting! I know you'll do a great job. I am so impressed that you think you can do that by the end of February!! Good on ya! I'll be thinking of you, sitting there writing like crazy. Yee-Haw!

Aislinge: Woo-Hoo! I've just finished my sixth NaNo novel! What a rush! To all those who have participated in NaNo, congratulations on taking the challenge, even if you didn't finish with 50,000 words.

Bellydanser: Wow! Congrats. That is definitely a grand achievement. :)

redrider6612: Congrats, my friend! How did you do it? Tie the children up? Hire a nanny?
    November 27, 2011 at 4:58PM
Aislinge: Hey, Red! Actually, I have a wonderful hubby who actually shoos me off to a quiet room to write while he handles the kids. 'Course, he relates well to them--somedays it feels like I have 3 kids instead of 2 :-)

SeLF: Congratulations!! What a rush that must be. Six freaking novels, awreddy!! And I'm still wrestling with one. CHEEEEE!
Okay, I guess that maybe, sometime soon, I'll get to read the next D & D book chapter. Yahoo!!
I also sincerely hope you can get your novels published. Now, THAT would be such a megarush!!

Aislinge: Thanks, S! I'm taking a few days off writing, just to let my muse rest (boy, he better not go AWOL :-) Thanks!

Helen Tan: 6th Nano! I'm only on my third. You're an inspiration. Keep going! =D

krprice: I need to consider that one year. Maybe this next year. This last year has been difficult with my husband being in and out of the hosptial quite a bit. I'm working on a MG mystery now.

Aislinge: Hey, Karlene! Join the madness next year--it's thirty days of writing insanity, but it's worth getting that novel in your head out on 'paper' :-)
