Barb in BC is a retired school music teacher, family genealogist and a widow who found a new identity and new reason to be as a writer. She has published over 250 magazine articles and is author of two books. She also teaches writing, provides editing services, and is a frequent public speaker.

Many of her magazine articles are included among the mostly humorous stories and perspectives which comprise her two books, RAVEN TRICKS: It's All Wrong; Yet It's All Right! and GOOD INTENTIONS GONE BAD! Both books are easy, entertaining reads, like an afternoon outing with a feisty old friend who finds wisdom or humour in ordinary situations.

She founded the Okanagan Writers' League and is active with The Writing Well, Federation of British Columbia Writers, and the Arts Council of the Central Okanagan. Visit her website at

Writewoman: Gee, last June I said that I was in the final stages of my epic history. Six months later, and 18 hours per day for the last year and a half, and I am STILL in the final stages! I hope those history buffs among you will visit to comment upon this mission to which I feel assigned.

Writewoman: I am in the final stages of an epic history, based upon the contents of 75 pioneer letters (1813-1893). This never-before published collection provides first person commentary on the War of 1812, the settlement of Illinois, the Mormon War in Illinois, the Mexican War, the Civil War, Lincoln's funeral train, a soldier's perspective on Gen. George Armstrong Custer, the Colorado and the California Gold Rushes. This project has consumed my time and energies for the last year.
Tentative title is MY Dear Aunt Martha -- A Pioneer Epic in the Words of Those Who Lived It.
I would have preferred to complete it to a publisher's specs but have decided to self publish to my own specs. I would appreciate marketing suggestions.

another jim: Actually, I'm enjoying them in my beautiful province of Upstate New York...LOL! But yeah, Writewoman, BC is an extraordinarily scenic place, and Vancouver is one great-looking city. Tuned in this morning, and it was raining(!). So, when does the swimming competition begin?
