ArtGal wrote her first poem when she was 15 in a creative writing class, and became hooked ever since. Both of her parents were poets also, so she grew up listening to wondrous words which spoke to her. She wrote for 7 years on three AOL boards, one on Romance and the other was General. The last was her fave, on Japanese poetry. Her poetry was not welcomed on the first two, because she wrote only in rhyme. They encouraged her to write in free verse. She struggled, but finally understood that it was a bit more 'freeing' than rhyme, and became to enjoy it. Even dropping punctuation was a change.
Note: Please know that when she writes free verse, it will always be left to the reader's imagination, so just interpret it as you will. She will also mix rhyme with free verse, so no meter involved. There are so many varieties in life so why leave any out in poetry?
Side Note: She is an artist, mostly portraits, makeup artist, business woman (owned an art gallery/studio), and in earlier years, Jr. Miss America, model, actress, singer, but gave most of it all up for love, and she would do it again!
She will post and review when she can, but not as much as she used to. She loves poetry but there are many more priorities in life, like time with her husband and four grandchildren. She may go by ArtGal, but please call her Sharon! |
