My name is Patrick, and I love to read and write. I joined this site to hopefully improve my writing, which, more often than not, falls far short of my expectations. To my joy, I have found a lot of good authors to read on this sight as well. To all of you, thank you for sharing your gift.

I would like to do a series of Renga (ancient Japanese poetry by two authors - consisting of two stanzas - the first is written by one author and is a haiku; the second is written by the other author in response, and consists of two unrhymed lines with a specific syllable count). If anybody is interested, please send me a message.

Jeanie Mercer: I just saw this posting about the possible upcoming heart surgery for your little daughter Alison. I just sent up a prayer in her behalf, and yours. I know exactly what you mean about wishing it were you instead of her. My best wishes to you and all your family, and I will continue to remember you. Jeanie Mercer

Shirley B: Patrick, I am keeping your daughter in my prayers. When your children hurt, you hurt. I hope and pray she will be okay. Shirley

Triple P: My 9 year old daughter, Alison, who has already had two heart surgeries (back when she was a baby), is scheduled for an MRI on her heart November 29th. She will probably be having another surgery sometime in January and February, but we're praying she won't need one. Please keep us, and especially her, in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks.
Also, Nanette Mary has written a wonderful acrostic poem to Alison, which can be found in Nanette's profile. Please take a few moments to check it out.

songlines: In 1943 I had heart surgery. It was experimental at that time and the equipment was pretty basic compared to today. The war was on and my mother was alone but gave me that slight chance to live. I have had three children and no heart problems since. Please be positive and I will keep Alison in my prayers.

Triple P: thanks, songlines. I am positive, and am sure everything will work out one way or the other. What I have a hard time with is the thought of my daughter's chest being 'cracked' open, and then her having to recover from all that. I'd much rather have it happen to me.

Wendyanne: I will keep your daughter in my thoughts and pray that she recovers well.

Triple P: Is there anyone else out there who would prefer to NOT win a contest, but rather get 2nd or 3rd for the member dollars? And also so they don't have to live up to the pressure of being a contest winner? In many ways I am glad I am not a top ranked poet.
Maybe I'm just weird (okay, that's a given!).

adewpearl: I think you're being weird today, Patrick. LOL Even if you want member dollars more than real ones,
with a $100 VISA card, you can buy member dollars, way more of them than you earn for second or third place. :-)

Triple P: Oh yeah, didn't think of that! =)
Darn you, Brooke, I had just convinced myself that I didn't want to win a contest. =)

RavenShrift: You could use the prize money to purchase member dollars. Personally, I'd rather have cold, hard cash :-)

adewpearl: And men insist they are the logical ones. LOL

Triple P: My logic is that I have enough money in my life - but not enough member dollars. ROFL

Soledadpaz: That's a good one! I'm on the floor laughing with you!!

Gungalo: I'm with you Patrick. Lotta work to earn these dollars, isn't it? But look at all the great writes we get to read!!!

Soledadpaz, I see you down on that floor!!! LOL.

    Go figure, eh Brooke?

Triple P: lol, Gungalo. I'm glad I'm not the only weird one on this sight. =)

Triple P: Does anybody know how a person can get to be on the contest review committees? That is something I'd be interested in.
