I have been writing for a long time and, like everyone, am getting older. I have been an editor and contest judge and love writing short fiction and non fictions. Also a lot of poetry. |

emmaysavage:
I enjoy writing and really value receiving critiques. I will read everything and especially enjoy contemporary fiction and poetry. I've been writing most of my adult life. A volume of my poms will be out inn 2020 (I hope) and am currently blocked on finishing my novel, and like writing short fiction and nonfiction.

animatqua: Welcome, Emmay!
We've never met, so this is a totally unbiased opinion: you write well. You write very well. A collection of your short stories should be able to find a market.
Posting those stories on fanstory first is a good idea. Most readers will give you good ideas on what is working and what isn't.

sunnilicious: Hi. Read your contest. Thinking of entering. I thought a monologue was a speech or play told by one person. Interested in finding out more the topic. Any guidance you could offer is appreciated. Thanks.

JuneYvonne: I would also like some clarification of the rules for your One Voice contest. I notice that BayK posted a query about the style required, and Alvin replied with confirmation of what constitutes blank verse, but none of the four entries so far comply in my opinion. Of the four, one comes close to using iambic pentameter (but not quite), and that entry also has end rhymes (which I would also like to use if possible, but think that your rules don't allow it). The other three entries don't even come close to the way I interpret the rules as stated.
I would like to enter this contest but really don't know if the poem I am working on is acceptable (basically a monologue in sonnet form). Any guidance you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks - June
