I am currently editing my first book. It is a memoir. I would like to find an agent. I have sent query. I am exploring self-publishing too. Any ideas? I've had some articles published in local mags, but my writer's wish is to become a better writter. I appreciate your input. Wow! there is a lot of stuff on this site.

writerwish: Hi guys. I am glad to be back. I have had my share of poorly written books and I HAVE missed all of you and the great stories and poems. You can now find two children books I wrote on Amazon. I even got paid for it. A LITTLE.. But I got an idea now of how it is to work with a publisher.

writerwish: I am thrilled. The editor finally sent me the edit. He has some good suggestions about opening sentences to chapters, form and adding even more dialogue, saying to use that strength I have. Now I have to get to work on that. I may be not too frequent for a few weeks but I'll check in and definitely get back to reviewing soon. Next is publishing..piece of cake...LOL for sure! Thanks for your super help guys and for cheering me on. Editor quite positive about book. Wonder if they all are?

Dave M: This is excellent news. I felt that your book could use an editor, and I'm glad you found one. There would be a lot of interest in your book. It might not be so hard to publish as you think.

forestport12: Is that the first one you wrote about an abusive past. It left my mind jangling, and I do recall some chapters that haunted me. If so, this is great. Happy, happy, happy!

marym224: Hi, writerwish. Just noticed your comments in your information. I have just published my first UK book with Print On Demand system, which seems the only way to go, these days. But the minefield of POD publishers out there is treacherous, so do a fair bit of investigative homework before you decide. I don't think you should bother with an agent, who will only charge you precious money for what you can do yourself. Unless you've written another Harry Potter, that is! Most of the POD publishers offer a marketing package; most of them put your book on and Barnes and Noble etc. But you'll have to be prepared to do a lot of self-promotion, which is a hard, time-consuming job anyway. However, the first book is the worst book to promote. If that goes well, subsequent books do, too. Good luck. Mary

    R. J. Stewart: I used to kept journals, but then I found out, I write about nothing but negative things and reading them depresses me. Maybe it's just me.
