I just write what I feel. I don't have any kind of degree or major in writing or literature. I have been writing poetry since I was a teen and until recently, I never really took it too seriously. At the urging of friends, I am now pursuing my dreams of writing and hopefully publishing some of my work someday. I constantly read and I'm always trying to push my mind to places I didn't think it could go. I am a dreamer and a person who tries to see things with depth, open-mindedness, and clarity.

~Vincent Phelps~: I've been away for awhile, looking for other outlets for my poetry, since I have to pay to post here. I personally, don't get that, but it is what it is.

hollyinvesuvianite: I am starting to stay away as well, my friend. I hope that you are finding other outlets. Holly

~Vincent Phelps~: I may be lonely in this world, as a result of my priciples and my moral commitments. But, in heaven, I will hold the hands of the ones who truly loved me. ~Vincent Phelps~

~Vincent Phelps~: It's strange when a person becomes what they always wanted to be. I compare it to an "outer-body" experience. It's like God pulls you out of yourself and makes you look into your own eyes. Then, he says, "Look, told ya so." -~Vincent Phelps~

~Vincent Phelps~: I have come to the determination, that no matter how hard you may try to fill the void within some people, there will always remain a place where they hide their isolation, despair, and pain. If you can open the doors tho this hidden and forbidden realm, then you may just have a chance to render it a place of hope and peace, once again. ~Vincent Phelps~

hollyinvesuvianite: Very well said, Vincent. Some people can be hard to reach, but it is not impossible. Holly

~Vincent Phelps~: Many people don't realize what great things they are truly capable of accomplishing until someone who is caring and who honestly believes in them, shows them themselves. ~Vincent Phelps~

~Vincent Phelps~: Life is a reverse swan-dive into an epic pool of the unknowns...make sure you're a good swimmer. ~Vincent Phelps~

deb552: interesting concept. one should probably make sure they're a good diver too, otherwise the unknown they land it could break them, before having a chance to swim.

~Vincent Phelps~: In order to make a positive change in anything, one must first understand the fundamental elements of what one is trying to change. ~Vincent Phelps~

~Vincent Phelps~: So, I hid from the world, because I was ashamed of what I had become. But, when I wanted and became what the world wanted, the world hid from me. -Vincent Phelps

~Vincent Phelps~: Great Things Are A Happening!!!! I'm registering & building a team for the St. Jude Children's Hospital Charity Walk, here in Indy. I plan on calling our team, "Indy's Compassion". The work of this hospital does something to me that is indescribable. The commitment of the staff, to save the lives of children, is something that I place on the highest of pedastools. These kind people roll their sleeves up every single day and say, "Not on my watch! This child is going to make it!". For that level of human compassion alone, I will commit myself. I am not a rich man, but my heart is full of wealth, and I intend to share this wealth. These children need Us. We need Them. I am a father and I am lucky that my little ones are happy and healthy. But, not all parents are so lucky. I feel their pain and I hurt every time I see a child who is suffering from any afflition. I feel that it is my responsibility as a human being and a lover-of-life, to help these families in any way that I can. Every child saved, is not only an ACT of GOD, but it is an ACT of MANKIND. Emphasis on KIND. I don't know why, but I felt compelled to share this little bit of me with You All. I guess I am doing it, simply because my spirit is lifted every time I read the words from the writers on this site....You. I thank You for the gift You have shared with me. It helps me to share my own gift with like-minded and truly compassionate people. It also helps me to open my eyes to what I may have overlooked in the past....the simple pleasures in life and the value of it.

deb552: I think what you're doing is amazing! I have 2 grown, healthy sons, and now a 7 month old grandson. Fortunately my kids never needed the services of St Jude, and I hope my grandson never will. But, to know that this wonderful place exists just incase, is most comforting. The way this hospital has helped others needs to be promoted, and supported. well done Vincent! deb

~Vincent Phelps~: Thank you very very much deb!!! I am very happy that your sons and grandson are healthy! That's a blessing in itself. I just feel compelled to help children who haven't been as blessed. I'm an advocate for life and I'm just trying to do my small part. Thank you for keeping all of our children in your prayers. It matters more than you know. Sincerely, Vincent

~Vincent Phelps~: I cannot believe this. I have found five individual writers on this site, who inexplicably seem to write from my very own heart. These four people have touched the deepest parts of me and have moved me in ways that are unimaginable. Their words come from a realm of dreams, hope, inspiration, compassion, and empathy. I am more than honored to have gotten the priviledge to read the thoughts of these kind peoples' minds. Thank You, I'm sure, from our correspondence, that you individuals know who you are.

Eliane Rabello: Vicent, if anybody is honored here, it's me for having met a writer of your caliber. Never lose this fire you emanate. Have a successful life on all fronts, my friend. I'm sure you deserve!
    August 26, 2012 at 9:01PM
~Vincent Phelps~: Onec again Eliane, your words have warmed my heart and lifted my spirit. I am very grateful for having the opportunity to share correspondence with you and many of the other fine writers on this pg. Your poems/short-stories, in particular, touch base will many current aspects in my own life and I feel like a richer man, for having read them. You all, are the stars in my eyes, and I love watching you streak across the night skies, as you ascend to your personal place of inner peace.

~Vincent Phelps~: I had to address some issues tonight, but I'm glad that I have a little better understanding of what is expected, from some authors. It helps me in my reviews and that's always a plus. I didn't get to review the poems/short story that I had planned on reviewing tonight. I have a msg. box full of poems that I would like to read tomorrow, since they are from authors that I am a fan of. Then, I can read some poems on the listing. But for now, it's time to rest these tired eyes and loose myself in the abyss of oblivion.
August 24, 2012 at 1:12AM

~Vincent Phelps~: Ok, I received one msg. questioning a couple of my reviews and the lengthy comment below, that also questions my capabilities as a reviewer. I'm just going to say this. No one on this site or any other site is better than anyone else, regardless of your academic credentials, your membership status, or anything of relevance. I respect all of the writers on this site & humbly ask the same in return. I am starting to see now, that even here (with some writers, not all), the message of the craft, is being misconstrued & twisted into something it's not meant to be. It's not about money or fame. It's about touching people. Period.

~Vincent Phelps~: I'm not a full member yet, so my only option at this point, is to re-post my only poem that I could submit to this website, without obtaining a full membership. Sorry if anyone is tired of seeing the same little, HOT

~Vincent Phelps~: Alright. I just read about twenty poems, from some of my favorite writers, on here. Great stuff. Truly humbling and touching. Some were deep and emotional. Others were wacky and comical. All in all, some amazing writing. That's what keeps me coming back. Thanks Everyone!
August 21, 2012 at 3:58PM

~Vincent Phelps~: My first officially published poem is in print!!!! It may not be exactly how I wanted, but is is published and that's all that matters!!! I'm so happy. This is the moment I have been waiting for, for it seems like my whole life. Now, if I can continue to touch people, my life will continue to be touched. Thanks to everyone on Fanstory who has encouraged me, reviewed my short poem, and shared any insights and inspirations. I am truly grateful to be a part of this wonderful experience.

deb552: Congratulations on being "officially published!" That's really exciting and I'm happy for you. I'd love to read it, if you care to share, and if not, no harm, no foul! I just think it's great!!!! I did self-publish, which was a major disappointment! It's a children's story, written in verse, and I'll never begin to recoup the money I spent. But, if nothing else, it was a good life lesson. Congrats. again! Bets wishes, deb

~Vincent Phelps~: Thanks Deb! I'm not a full member yet, so I can't post any of my other poems, other than my intitial contest entry. As soon as I can, my words will be strung throughout this web-site's awesome pages! I am sorry to hear that you got published at the sacrifice of you own money. But, we all sacrifice to build our dreams. One of my dreams, just happens to be writing. And if that's what it would have to come down to, then I too, would self-publish. Whatever it takes, for people to feel the raw emotion that I have had locked inside of me for years. Writing is my therapy. Best of wishes to you, as well. ~Vincent~
