I seem to disappear and reappear like a rabbit out of a hat but note-that is a 'White Rabbit' watching "the Red Queen on her head." I am a bit 'dark' at this moment right now having gone through the upheaval of too much loss within too short of a time. I work through my grief by writing so I'm grateful for this site. Life is what I make of it and am still fine tuning more than one aspect in my earthly interlude. I invite you to call me 'Arte.' It has a 'chummy' sound to it and if one can count their true friends on one hand near the end, their life has been blessed;)
I no longer wish to be 'Anyone' or 'Anything' special. I just would be pleased to put down my thoughts. Through perspective, not only do you heal but bloom, until the last petal is picked and your wish is blown upon the wind.
It is what it is

artemis53: Sometimes I inadvertently roll my eyes and shake my head. Am I missing something here or do I need to dance in place like the ballerina in the jewelry box?

artemis53: Well. I think I'm off my chain after what I composed at 3 in the morning. This one ain't gonna be good for the classicists.

artemis53: i am exhausted. My Son is searching for flights to see him in Texas before he deploys. I most certainly didn't sign up for this but I'm here and just need to get over it. This is quite a strange world.

artemis53: My youngest Son will be deployed for the 3rd time with an initial MOS to Germanny. I must have been extremely STUPID when I marched against Vietnam and for equal rights for women. Perhaps I was just not reading the fine lines. BTW. He knows this song since I was at high school and drove to Kent when after the shootings the guard would still come to campus.

artemis53: I crossed a boundary today, It's not my personal boundary but one set to limit the scope of my writing. I went into politics (OMG, how could you do that) :-0 I've been around the block a few times and can catch what is in the wind so I put my thoughts down (How dare you) ;o Take it or leave it. It's just an opinion and we are free to voice ours on this site, right???

artemis53: I must resign myself to the fact that I truly cannot win a ribbon no matter how I try. It's just not in the cards and entering a contest is the kiss of death for me. I'm grateful for my writers ribbon and of course for my trophy on my vanity in my bedroom. Was I born too early or much too late? I wonder.

Dean Kuch: You're not alone there, Diane!

michaelcahill: Really? That's pretty shocking. You're really a great writer. Enter lots of contests, I'm sure you'll have tons of ribbons. In any case, you'll have lots of great writing in your portfolio. :))

Dean Kuch: I gotta feeling she's talking about site sponsored contests, Mikey--the ones voted on by the CEC.
Of course, I could be wrong. I was one, lol...

michaelcahill: OHHHHH ... site contests. Jeesh. I can't figure those out either. The CEC has nothing to do with those by the way according to Tom. It says so though. LOL
I hear the Anti-Dean, Artemis and Mike Club votes on those....

DR DIP: Are contests really worth the grief and disappointment? It's all subjective anyway how they are adjudicated.
As they say, one person's trash is another's treasure.

artemis53: Thanks so much for responding guys. I was feeling like Tom Hanks on an Island. I've noticed a precipitous drop from reviewers of the classic forms or am I just paranoid ;-) Thanks, Mikey for mentioning the triumvirate of yourself, Dean and my 'Cracker' self. The ribbons are pretty but not necessary since I use this site only to vent and validate for myself. I understand, Dip...why put myself through it but it's in my nature to do it every time. I've been at grave sides watching the earth make cracks around a coffin and don't regret it. It's just me. Thanks all of you guys for visiting my profile. Sometimes it's a pretty lonely place to be. BTW, do I sound like a deep Soth Cracker. Yes. We can read ;-D

artemis53: Ive always loved this song and know I used it for another poem but that's WAY too tough for me to wander through all of my writings.

artemis53: The other day I put in a question to the forum re: free (form) verse. Julia and Michael were kind enough to give me some insight. Perhaps it's "Just the Season of the Witch" but all that seems to be coming out of me are these streams of consciousness sometimes held together by a single string but I feel it still counts.
I guess I'm still within parameters but don't think I would be contest material. You really should try it. It's fun and I remember being encouraged by Gungalo to go with it!

Senyai: I had forgotten Donovan, the Scot, altogether! Thanks for this song and the memories, Artemis.

Dustybones: What propmted thinking of Dan Fogelberg it's been several years, December 16, 2007, awhile back? I just mentioned him to someone the other day.
Changing horses in the middle of a stream
Gets you wet and sometimes cold
Changing faces in the middle of a dream gets you old

artemis53: Just went to the forum re: Michael Cahill's comment on the 5 trophies for poet and don't see what the problem is by bringing it to 10. Is it exclusivity? "Top Ten" is pretty much a standard. Why only top 5 when the inordinate differences between novelists and poets is so obvious?
