I have come to enjoy writing, although my career has prevented me from spending much time at it. As of July 2019, I have retired after 45 years in my chosen career.
I have learned a great deal about the process of publishing books, at least as it relates to self-publishing. After working with editors, reviewers, and much more re-writing, more reviews, and then creating the cover design. It is a test of patients, trust, and perseverance.
In the end, being able to hold your creation in your hands, has a sense of fulfilment that my chosen career could never provide.
I am no longer writing with dreams of wealth, or fame. Those dreams have faded with age.
More importantly, I am just writing because I enjoy it, and for that purpose, I will continue to write stories, and to challenge myself to learn, and to improve what skills I can, for as long as I can.

Mr. Green: Since I just finished the third and final book on Levi Sawyer's trilogy. I started right back into trying another book but I found that after all the steps that are needed to complete such a project, now I am needing time to just write and to have fun doing it. So I wrote "The Earth Pilot." I think my mind needs a break from the drive and the determination that is needed to write a book. I know I will come back to it. For now at least, I think my brain wants to walk in the park for a time. So I will just continue to be playful, and to experiment in different ways to hopefully become a better writer.

Mr. Green: I'm sorry I haven't made it back here for a while. It has been a busy 16 months since I retired. My book "The Convict Train" is now published with Amazon. What a process. I paid for an editor to help me out, it is one way that I can learn.
Now it is on to writing other stories. I just wanted to thank each of you for your input and guidance along the way. Your suggestions help me learn and to stay on task.
There are a lot of authors out there, much more talented than I am, and I look forward to hearing from you. To learn all that I can. It seems that the more I learn, the more I realize how much I depend on the wisdom of others.

Mr. Green: Now that my last book in the trilogy of Levi Sawyer is sitting with the professional editors to review, I am pondering on the idea of something different. So don't be surprised if short stories start showing up, just to test the waters.

Mr. Green: Well, I did it, last week I retired. A new chapter in my life begins. At the moment there is a little bit of a concern, leaving a secure job that took care of my financial needs and my health insurance. But I am sure this will pass. It's an adjustment, but we will make it.

WryWriter: Enjoy this new chapter! We retire from a job, not life. In fact, you may find you have more to do. LOL!

Mr. Green: It's been a while since I have gotten back here. Thank you for your kind words. Retiring was a process for me. My wife told here boss she was retiring and they took care of everything.
Not me, I had a lot of work to do. But now retirement is working and even though its only been 60 days, it has been great not to have to live by the clock.
I have a lot to get done. Soon I will return to FanStory with new chapters to post.

Mr. Green: "Kill The Frogs" was a story I wrote before my retirement. At that time my job would pull me away from fanstory. Sometimes for months.
I never looked for a place where I could respond to this contest. I seldom opened my profile unless there was a specific reason.
So it is with my apology and my warmest appreciation that I would like to thank you. The responses I have received regarding this story have been surprising.
I thank each and every one of you who have helped me and encouraged me in my writing.
