Very busy at the BnB...no time to write. Working from 5 am to at 10 pm (with a few breaks to eat, etc.). I've had a full house for ten days in a row...exhausted but happy. October is our busiest month. Miss being here, bantering back and forth, and reading everybody's stuff. Be back soon.

rosehill (Wendy): Have to say I'm in the same boat. October and the leaf peepers. Just coming off 27 days straight and headed for thirteen more. I'd mention something about how tough it is with all the one-nighters, but everyone on the forum would be all over that in a nano-second. Hang in there and we will probably both be wishing for some of that work to do in late November.

nhinchliff: rosehill, did not know you had a BnB. Hi to another tired innkeeper. Leaf peepers? LOL Hadn't heard that one. We've got the St James Art stompers (3rd`largest Art show in the country) And this year, for some reason, seems like I'm getting all the Gluten Free diet people who come to Louisville. We're still pretty busy in November. It's January that does me in.

Some of you may have noticed lately I'm not reviewing as much as I usually do. It's because I'm working on my second memoir (Roxie, Alfred and Me) and have gotten hung up on the time-line and all the research I've had to do. I've only posted two chapters so far and as soon as I figure out what happened when, I'll post the next one.
*Note: (to nor84) This is not an advertisement.

shelley kaye: photobucket.com is a free site where you upload you pics and get a "code" to place them anywhere.

Sarkems: right, well, I've just learned that to post videos from youtube, you click 'share' then 'embed' and copy and paste the link provided. I don't know about photos, I think you have to use photobucket, but I don't know what that is

In my opinion, these are some of the characteristics needed in a prose piece to qualify for a six star review:
-Excellent hook at the beginning, making the reader want to read on
-Good writing ...the kind I want to read...clear, flowing, easy to understand (not filled with SPAG).
-Content is interesting, builds up tension as it goes along.
-Everything said and done moves the story along with no superfluous stuff to get in the way.
-Although there may be a mini-resolution along the way, the end of a chapter leaves me with lots of questions and the compelling desire to read more.
- A good story arc (mostly for fiction)

MAITCH: It's Maitch here. Sorry to intrude, but I have made a transition in chapter 1 of the Iron Palace. You'll see it if you look in your reviews. It's really only a line, but I think it might be less confusing. Sorry it sounded so muddled to you, but some of we writers sort of write to ourselves. This is the good part of having work reviewed.
Take a look.
Maitch.
