I hope so
Film. Especially British and French film making. Good food, writing, art
Married to an artist and have two grown children (a pigeon pair) and two beautiful grandchildren, Isabella and Abigail.
I Love making things from old junk.
Gabriel Garcia Marquez is my favorite writer. I just love the way he manages to make the most ordinary and mundane appear thrilling and magical and Frederico Lorca, a poet who makes the page of a poem, breathe.
Just because you believe in something does not mean that it is true.

Good morning folks.
This Coronavirus is most strange...
We are told that it is highly contagious and that we should all wear masks, wash our hands regularly and keep a reasonable distance between one another. Odd then, that my mother-in-law has been diagnosed with it and yet her husband, who has recently undergone chemotherapy for cancer and has been very poorly indeed, has no sign of it at all and has been diagnosed virus-free, yet they live with and sleep with one another!

Colin John : Yes very odd and I bet their are quite a few stories like that but not in the public ear. My niece's in-laws went into hospital together, both had an illness and both caught Covid while there and both had Covid on their death certifcate.

trimple : I'm very sorry to hear of your sad loss, Colin.

nor84 : Some people have an immunity which can't be explained. Back in the sixties there was the Hong Kong flu, nowhere this dangerous at least not to younger people. My husband and I came down with it and had temperatures of 104F. My friend, who lived with us at the time, was slightly inconvenienced with a temperature of about 100 and only for a few days. My husband and I were sick for weeks.
My father lived and worked during the 1918 flu. He said people came to work apparently healthy and were "carried out." He didn't get the flu until he got a different flu from my mother in the nineteen thirties.
Certainly the co-vid virus is very contagious. Perhaps your father-in-law has a natural immunity or that the chemotherapy drugs have some impact.

trimple : Poor you! Nor. Interesting that you mention 'immunity' My father-in-law wondered if, by some default, his Chemo treatment had somehow increased his natural immunity to this Coronavirus, but as we know, ordinarily, this particular treatment decreases the immune system considerably.

nor84 : Come to think of it, I don't remember Dad ever having the flu. Unfortunately, I'm not that lucky.
September 12, 2020 at 8:20PM
lightink : So, about 10% of all humans have natural immunity to certain viruses (different 10% for different viruses) - thus, complete extinction due to a single virus is unlikely... He might have been one of the lucky ones. Or he might have had immunity due to an earlier infection with a different but similar strain of coronavirus. (Also, certain cancer medications might actually kill the virus. They found a few that seem to have that effect in the early stage of studies. I'm sending good thoughts to both of them. I hope she'll recover quickly and that he'll never catch it. Mat he get better soon, as well!

lightink : Oops, sorry for the typos: *MAY he get better*
